Jake Miller Shares The Sweetest Story About 'Palm Blvd' (Exclusive)

Jake Miller Shares The Sweetest Story About 'Palm Blvd' (Exclusive)

We don’t know about you, but Jake Miller‘s relationship with his sister, Jenny, is sibling goals.

You can feel the love the musician has for sister, showcased in his latest Instagram, in honor of her birthday.

Jake and Jenny‘s bond is so strong that before his new album, 2 AM in LA, was released, she was supposed to be featured on “Palm Blvd”.

“No one knows that my sister, Jenny, is an amazing singer — she doesn’t sing in front of any other people, but she’s amazing — and originally she was supposed to sing a verse on it,” Jake told us in an interview.

Jenny was supposed to sing the second verse of the track, but ultimately ended up not doing it.

“We had it all written in her point of view, and I had flight booked to go back to Florida and get her in the studio,” Jake says. “Right when I was supposed to fly there though, she called my crying. She really wanted to do it, but she didn’t feel that she had the courage to put herself out there and open to criticism like that.”

We definitely love “Palm Blvd” the way it is (seriously, it’s our jam), but would’ve loved to hear Jenny sing on it. We know it would’ve been even more amazing.

Jake adds about the song, and the meaning behind it, “I just had so many amazing memories looking back in my childhood and being that 12-year-old kid who just ran around and played baseball with my friends and did stupid pranks.”

“That’s what the song is about, just about throughout the craziness and throughout Hollywood and my career and the music industry — never forgetting that young kid inside me and always remembering where I come from and my roots.

“It’s always been a huge thing that my parents had instilled in me; Never forget where I’m from, how I was raised, my morals.”

Jake Miller released his self-produced album, 2:00AM in LA, just last week (listen here) and a ton of the songs are on the melancholy side, inspired by his emotions after splitting from his girlfriend of eight years.

He opened up about his life post-relationship in a new interview.

“I don’t go out that much anymore,” he told Zach Sang on the Zach Sang Show. “When I first was single I would go out all the time but… the grass is not greener on the other side,” he explained.

Jake considers himself a “girlfriend guy,” and despite his single status, that’s what he is always on the lookout for.

“I want somebody to take out to the movies,” he continued, “I want to go to dinner.”

He also talked about his ex-girlfriend, saying that the two split amicably and are still on good terms.

“We still see each other…I didn’t ever wanna see her with somebody else,” he said. He also hasn’t ruled out getting back together with her at all: “I’m not saying I’ll never get back with her,” he explained, “I have no idea. I kind of hope so. That’s the goal.”

After all, eight years is a long time to be together.

Jake Miller is just hours away from debuting his brand new album, 2:00am In LA — and if you missed it, we got a little sneak peek this morning!

The 24-year-old musician has 10 brand new songs on the album, which he recorded in his bedroom in LA.

During his appearance on the Elvis Duran Show, Jake performed “Sleeping With Strangers” and opened up about the story of it.

“I had just got out of an 8-year long relationship,” he reveals. “I’d been in it since I was 15. I live in LA now and there’s that pressure to go out with your friends and meet people now that I’m single. It’s about finding out that the grass isn’t greener on the other side and what I had before was a little bit better.”

Jake also spoke about what the record means to him.

“I’m the most proud of it because I channeled every single motion in my body and I poured every ounce of it into this music,” he said. “It’s kind of a window into a side of my life that I don’t usually share.”

Jake adds, “I share a lot on social media, but that kind of stuff [in the songs], I don’t really share.”

Jake Miller Taught Himself How To Produce Music For His First Independent Album

Jake Miller Taught Himself How To Produce Music For His First Independent Album

If you missed it, Jake Miller has an album coming out June 16th called “2:00 A.M. In L.A.” and we have exclusive deets about the new music.

About a week ago, Jake noted in an Instagram caption that he had separated from his label and that this is album was born out of one of the toughest years in his life.

While hanging backstage at the 2017 iHeartSummer Festival, Jake revealed how he’s not letting anything stop him from doing what he loves, and how he’s managing being independent.

“I kinda woke up one day and I was like ‘I wanna be like a one man show’,” Jake told us, while chatting about 2:00 A.M. in LA.

“I made this whole album in my bedroom,” he explained with some well-earned pride. “I wrote every word, I produced every beat.”

Jake didn’t even let not having a producer of fancy studio get in the way, claiming, “I kinda went on YouTube and just learned how to produce my own beats.”

He also revealed what he hopes fans will take from the album: “I want people to kind of listen to it and realize that if you want something done right, do it yourself. Learn how to do it yourself, cause that’s kinda what I did for this album.”

We’re so proud of Jake for keeping his grind going and we can’t wait to support this new album!
