Jake T. Austin takes a stroll down a busy street in a new feature for the June issue of Glamoholic magazine.
The 18-year-old Fosters actor opens up about his new ABC Family show, and other projects. Check it:
On working with [producer] Jennifer Lopez: “She has been very active on set and involved with the show in every aspect. Working with Jennifer Lopez has been a blessing. Having the chance to learn from someone like her is something I will be forever grateful for.”
On his character, Jesus: “Jesus and Mariana [Cierra Ramirez] are twins who have been estranged from their biological mother since birth. This character has enabled me to explore new depths as an actor. A role with such a unique backstroy demands a real, raw performance and I enjoy the challenge of trying to deliver that every day I come into work.”
On his animated movie career: “Working on animated projects allows an artist to truly express themselves through their voice. It’s so much fun. I enjoyed working on Rio and I can’t wait for Rio 2 to come out next year.”
The upcoming ABC Family series follows a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms. Stef Foster (Teri Polo), a dedicated police officer, and her partner Lena Adams (Sherri Saum), a school Vice Principal, have built a close-knit, loving family with Stef’s biological son from a previous marriage, Brandon (David Lambert), and their adopted twins Mariana (Ramirez) and Jesus (Austin).
Their lives are disrupted in unexpected ways when Lena meets Callie (Maia Mitchell), a hardened teen with an abusive past who has spent her life in and out of foster homes. Lena and Stef warily welcome Callie into their home thinking it’s just for a few weeks, until a more permanent placement can be found.
The Fosters premieres on Monday, June 3rd @9PM ET/PT.

“I’m taking every day one step at a time,” he told JJJ on the red carpet. “And just having the opportunity to work alongside someone like Jennifer Lopez and being on a platform like ABC is huge so early at this stage in my career. I’ve been really fortunate.”
Jake also dished about dressing for red carpet events. “You try to incorporate a lot of your personality,” he said. “I try to keep it liberated and open, a mix of casual and sophisticated looks.”
