How many of you turned on ABC Family last night and fell in love with Jane By Design? Us too!
JJJ fell in love with Jane, India and Lulu’s fashion sense in the pilot episode — but who really caught our eye was Birdie, the HR rep.
Just one look at her cute high-waisted jumper pants and we knew we had to have a pair ourselves. Searching our friend the internet, we found a few core pieces that you can score to get her look.

Cute, comfy and chic tees are key to pulling off the right outfit. So start simple — Gap‘s long-sleeved tee or short-sleeved scoop tee are the way to go. Doesn’t matter the color, just remember the fit. If it doesn’t fit right, it will ruin the effortless fashion Birdie had when she walked through the doors.
Hop on over to American Apparel, and snatch up the unisex jumper pants. Personally, we love the navy piquĂŠ color.
Our potential future boss, Gray Chandler Murray, definitely challenged us with this task and we will admit, came up with less than stellar results. We couldn’t think of what to do with the pretzels.
Gray wrote to us in an email, “The ability to translate your inspiration into something fresh and unexpected that takes the fashion world by storm is a rare gift. Rumor has it that one of the most coveted designer bags of all time was inspired by a roll of tape. Find the bag of pretzels in your trunk. Get inspired and create something that will amaze me.”
Our inspiration seemed to have left us in the dust for this task, as all we could do with them, was create a new belt buckle.
Painted with a rosey polish and brushed with gold leaf shadow, we strung the pretzels up on a thin piece of black leather and tied it around our dress form. Cute, no? Well, point is, we tried and came up with at least something.
Got any tips of what we could’ve done with the pretzels? Leave them below AND on the official Jane By Design Facebook!
Don’t forget to watch Jane By Design — on ABC Family RIGHT NOW!
“I wanted it to be Molly Ringwald and Ducky [Jon Cryer],” show creator April Blair tells THR of Jane and Billy’s relationship. “There were no guidelines, I went with what worked for the story. I definitely tried to, in the high school world and the work world, create parallels. ThereââŹâ˘s a mean girl in high school and the one at work, the cute boy in high school and the one at work.”
She continued, “The struggles Jane (Erica Dasher) has in high school, that helps her deal with the mean girl at work. ItââŹâ˘s done in a microcosm of her living in those two worlds at the same time.”
Check out the opening sequence, plus some new stills from the show below!
Jane By Design premieres @9PM ET/PT on ABC Family TONIGHT!
There are only two days left until the premiere of Jane By Design and we’re almost to the last task for the official style challenge.
For our task, Jane (Erica Dasher) instructed us to play up and down a cute white tailored shirt: “Using accessories from your own collection (or anything else you can think of), show how you would style the shirt for a day at the office. Then, change the look entirely and show me how you would style the same shirt for a dressy cocktail party.”
We took the challenge and did just that.
For our day look, we placed the shirt underneath our favorite blue dress and added a stunning pendant necklace to it. Nothing too stand out, but professional nonetheless.
For our party look, we took the same dress and turned it into a skirt. Adding a sparkly vest, we pulled the tailored shirt around our dress form’s shoulders and voila!
JJJ also played a bit with a daytime, weekend look. We pulled the shorts from our first task (the haul video), added a cute necklace and our fave purse. What do you think?

Erica shared about Jane’s back story: “I live with my brother because our father passed away a few years ago and the mother left when [Jane] was really young. I do it for a good cause to help out my brother and pay the bills. And, it’s her dream!”
Keep following JJJ for all your Jane By Design coverage!
FYI: Erica wore ContrarianââŹâ˘s ââŹĹOliviaââŹÂ long-sleeve off-the-shoulder zip front dress with McGinnââŹâ˘s tweed “Sammi” Coat and the Ruthie Davis “Implant” pump.
Jane By Design premieres in less than one week — and JJJ couldn’t be more excited!
Star Erica Dasher sat down on the set to chat about all things Jane Quimby, her boss Gray Chandler Murray, the men in Jane’s life and more.
Torn between her love of fashion and the need to finish high school, Jane conceals her true age to assist the demanding, but talented Gray Chandler Murray (Andie MacDowell), who travels the world in search of the next big style trend. Jane quickly learns that working for a successful executive in the cutthroat world of fashion is not as glamorous as she once thought.
But with help from her best friend Billy Nutter (Nick Roux), Jane tries to keep up appearances as she toggles between two lives and guard her secret.
Jane By Design premieres Tuesday, January 3 @ 9PM ET/PT on ABC Family. Stay tuned for more!
While Erica shared that the best gift she was ever given was her sister, Katie shared her favorite holiday movie — which is one of ours, too!
“My favorite holiday movie is A Year Without Santa Claus ,” Katie said. “My favorite scene is with Snow Miser and he’s singing and dancing and doing his thing…he’s got icicles, his hair is made out of ice and it’s really funny. I sort of wish I had see-through hair.”
