Jason Derulo flips on out stage as he performs at the 2011 BBC Teen Awards held at Wembley Arena in London on Sunday afternoon (October 9).

The 22-year-old musician recently chatted with BBC Newsbeat about how inspiring the awards are to him.

“There are some really inspiring teens out there,” Jason shared. “And I know it will be inspiring to hear their stories. Hardships can make us stronger, you know, and through those we can grow and be something great and be an example. These teens are the future.”

Jason Derulo loses his shades as he arrives at the 2011 MOBO Awards held at the SECC in Glasgow, Scotland on Wednesday night (October 5).

Although the 22-year-old musician was nominated for Best International Act at the show, Rihanna took home the prize.

Jason still got to perform at the show though.

The ceremony also included a tribute to late singer Amy Winehouse that featured her goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield.

Jason Derulo rocks out during his flash mob performance outside of Fuse Studios on Wednesday (September 28) in NYC.

The 22-year-old singer sang and danced with the Knicks City Dancers during the surprise performance.

Even though Jason sparked dating rumors when spotted out at dinner with Jordin Sparks over the weekend, he has told MTV that he and the 21-year-old singer are just friends.

Jason also dished about his ideal date.

“I think the most beautiful thing to me would be breakfast on the beach as we watch the sun rise, because the sunrise is very beautiful, and breakfast is my favorite meal of the day,” Jason said.

“I do think that I work too hard,” Jason admits, “I’m 21 and I always want to work. But I work because I feel like I have an obligation. Now that I have fans and I see what music can do to my fans, I have an obligation.”
