“We’re actually friends with Emmalyn from G.R.L. and she loves the song,” Jade said. “I think every song is going to have a similar chord sequence, slightly similar lyrics, and melodies — you know, it happens all the time. But it doesn’t mean that they’re not both incredible songs.”
She added, “I think maybe because it was a girl band as well, people just like to have something negative to say.”
Perrie said, “I just think…stop trying to hop on the bandwagon, how about that?”
“Can’t believe it! Thank you so much to our lovely jubbly fans for getting us this just five days after release. To our team who have worked tirelessly on the #ShoutOutToMyEx campaign, especially this week to get the top spot! To my friends and family…after an awful week, something amazing has come out of it. And I do not know how I would ever cope without my sisters @jesymix14 @leigh_love_life @perrieeele ???? it doesn’t matter how shit things are, having these by my side always makes things a little better,” Jade reacted on Instagram.
She added, “This song is for anyone who’s had a bad break up and has come out better for it! ????????????#ShoutOutToMyEx. BRING ON THE GLORY DAYS.”
The track was written by Little Mix, Camille Purcell, Iain James and Electric , and is the first single off of the group’s forthcoming album, Glory Days.
“I think ‘Shout Out’ is an introduction,” Jade told us. “It’s quite poppy but a little bit more mature than the last album. There are dance songs on there and there are a couple of ballads on there. It’s a little bit more mature. We’ve become a little bit sassier.”
Little Mix is gearing up to drop their fourth studio album, Glory Days, on November 18!
We hopped on the phone with member Jade Thirlwall to get some scoop on what we can expect, in addition to some details on their hot new single “Shout Out to My Ex,” which they just performed on The X Factor stage this past weekend.
“We were so scared,” she said. “It’s a lot of pressure…before we went on, we were absolutely terrified. But as soon as the music came on, everything was good.”
The song is a powerful breakup anthem and Jade cited Cher‘s “Believe” and Fifth Harmony‘s “That’s My Girl” as some of her other favorite breakup tracks.
“I think ‘Shout Out’ is an introduction,” Jade said about the full album. “It’s quite poppy but a little bit more mature than the last album. There are dance songs on there and there are a couple of ballads on there. It’s a little bit more mature. We’ve become a little bit sassier.”
As for the group’s upcoming tour with Ariana Grande, she said she’s excited to head back to the U.S. Some of her favorite places include New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Philadelphia.
“We’re definitely excited to be back in America and see all of our American fans that we haven’t seen in a while,” Jade said.
Be sure to stay tuned for Little Mix‘s “Shout Out to My Ex” music video release later tonight!
