Look what the JJJ Book Club got our hands on — the book trailer for Marie Lu‘s “Prodigy”!

June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—-June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.

It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.

But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengeance, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?

“Prodigy” is due out in bookstores on January 29th — we can’t wait!

Win a FREE 'Iron Fey' Books Box Set with 'The Lost Prince' by Julie Kagawa

Win a FREE 'Iron Fey' Books Box Set with 'The Lost Prince' by Julie Kagawa

The JJJ Book Club is a sucker for a good supernatural story — and that’s just what we got when reading “The Lost Prince” by Julie Kagawa.

We were big fans of her Iron Fey series, so we were really happy when the newest tale hit shelves last month.

The Iron Fey saga follows half-human, half-faery Meghan Chase as she fights to claim her magical birthright. Her journey begins in the mortal world, when her half-brother Ethan is kidnapped. The mission to rescue the innocent child draws Meghan into the Nevernever—the magical world—where the never-before-seen Iron fey are raining destruction upon traditional faeries. Meghan’s quest is fraught with unimagined dangers, unpredictable powers…and an utterly forbidden love.

Now little Ethan is all grown up—and a new breed of fey has come for him. Bound by blood to a world he despises, Ethan plunges into the Nevernever searching for answers: who are the ghostly assassins hunting him? Who controls them? And why are exiled and half-breed faeries vanishing from the mortal world?

With a vulnerable human girl to protect and an enigmatic faery ally he could never have imagined, Ethan embarks on his own Fey saga. Along the way he will encounter kin, comrades and deadly new enemies. He will discover his formidable strengths, and his deepest weaknesses—and he will fight for his life against the Forgotten.

JJJ got our hands on an amazing prize pack that we’re giving away to ONE lucky reader! You’ll get a copy of “The Lost Prince” along with The Iron Fey box set and a $100 Visa gift card!

JJJ Book Club: Casting Ally Condie's 'Matched' Series

JJJ Book Club: Casting Ally Condie's 'Matched' Series

In case you missed it, Ally Condie‘s “Reached” was our November pick for the JJJ Book Club — and now we can’t help but dream of the perfect cast for the film adaption…and it looks like Ms. Condie is dreaming too.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the author spoke of the film adaption and her dream cast for the characters in her books.

“I’m 34, so I’m mostly thinking about whose dad Nathan Fillion could play. [Laughs] A lot of fans have been sending pictures of actors. I just saw Logan Lerman in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. A lot of fans have mentioned him, and I was kind of dying because he’s the cutest thing ever — he would be a great Ky. Also, Nina Dobrev from The Vampire Diaries,” she shared.

Ms. Condie added about the final book for the fans: “I’m hoping they’ll feel satisfied with the end of the series, but I’m anticipating some sorrow. I hope that means that I’ve done my job right. Team Ky and Team Xander are fun, but I wanted readers to root for both. I never wanted it to be either-or. I think that both of them — even though it won’t be easy for some fans — do get what they need.”

WHO WOULD YOU cast as Cassia, Ky and Xander?

JJJ Book Club Pick for November: 'Reached' by Ally Condie

JJJ Book Club Pick for November: 'Reached' by Ally Condie

We could never imagine our free will being taken away or having our lives pre-planned for us or having arranged marriages come back into style.

Reached” by Ally Condie is the third book in her popular “Matched” series and we could not have imagined a better send off.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT? After leaving Society and desperately searching for the Rising — and each other — Cassia and Ky have found what they were looking for, but at the cost of losing each other yet again. Cassia has been assigned to work for the Rising from within Society, while Ky has been stationed outside its boarders. But nothing is as predicted, and all too soon the veil lifts ans things shifts once again.

Cassia will reconcile the difficulties of challenging a life too confining, seeking a freedom she never dreamed possible, and honoring a love she cannot live without.

WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT? We definitely recommend you read both “Matched” and “Crossed” before diving into “Reached.” Not only will you get to read two more excellent novels, but it will take you from the beginning of Cassia’s journey to where she is now. The lengths Cassia goes to have a life with the right to choose, well, everything, is wonderful. Imagine having it all taken away — what you could eat, what you could learn, even down to what you could wear. What would you do for the right to choose?

HONORABLE MENTIONS: “Flash Point” by Nancy Kress, “The Lazarus Machine: A Tweed & Nightingale Adventure” by Paul Crilley, “Black City” by Elizabeth Richards, “Days of Blood & Starlight” by Laini Taylor, “Meant To Be” by Lauren Morrill, “Sirens” by Janet Fox, “Elemental” by Antony John, and “Touched” by Corrine Jackson.
