The world is in mourning following the death of legendary Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher and her Force Awakens co-star John Boyega has paid tribute to her in a new statement.

“My heart is heavy but I’m grateful that I got to know her. I’ll cherish the memories, conversations and her consistent support. Rest well,” the 24-year-old actor posted on Instagram with a cute photo of him and Carrie on the red carpet.

John, who played Finn in the movie, also shared a photo of him on stage with Carrie at Star Wars Celebration and captioned it with a simple heart emoji.

John Boyega looks very handsome as he attends the 2016 BFI London Film Festival Virgin Atlantic Gala screening of Queen of Katwe held at Odeon Leicester Square on Sunday (October 9) in London, England.

The 24-year-old actor stepped out to support his Star Wars co-star Lupita Nyong’o at the screening of her new film.

Also in attendance were Lupita‘s Queen of Katwe co-star David Oyelowo, with wife Jessica, and the director Mira Nair.

Will Poulter & Jacob Latimore Join Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit Riots Flick

Will Poulter and Jacob Latimore are headed back to the 1960s in director Kathryn Bigelow‘s Detroit Riots movie.

The two young actors will join Jack Reynor, Algee Smith, and John Boyega in the flick, which will center on the famed 1967 Detroit Riots.

Will, Jacob and Algee will all have lead roles the film, which will span over the five days when the riots between police and civilians that left 43 people dead and over 1,000 injured.

Filming has already begun in Detroit, Michigan.

John Boyega Welcomes Alden Ehrenreich to 'Star Wars' Family!

John Boyega shares a special moment with Alden Ehrenreich during a panel at the Star Wars Celebration on Sunday (July 17) at ExCel in London, England.

The 24-year-old The Force Awakens actor was on hand to welcome Alden, 26, to the Star Wars family. It is officially confirmed that he will play Han Solo in an upcoming spinoff movie!

Also in attendance at the panel were stars Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, as well as Star Wars: Episode VIII director Rian Johnson, and Han Solo spinoff movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

“I read the sides and I loved them. I auditioned for six months. The coolest part was I went on the Falcon for a chemistry test with Chewbacca. It was unbelievable. It was more exciting than nerve-racking,” Alden said (via Variety). It was revealed that he was the first actor to audition for the role!

The 24-year-old breakout star of the movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens will play the son of Idris Elba‘s character from the first movie in the sequel, set for release on February 23, 2018.

Pacific Rim hit theaters in 2013 and it starred Charlie Hunnam and was directed by Guillermo Del Toro. The movie racked up $411 million at the worldwide box office.
