Joshua Bassett is spilling on his favorite Rini moments on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series!

The 19-year-old actor shared three moments between Ricky and Nini and one of them surprised us!

Joshua explained that one of his favs is the first time Nini tells Ricky that she loves him, which ends up leading to a downward spiral in their relationship.

“The first one has got to be when Nini is showing Ricky the Instagram. That’s the scene he can’t say ‘I love you’ for so things get a little rough from there,” Joshua explained.

While that scene broke our hearts a little hit, Joshua spilled on his other favorite scenes that are a little happier!

Joshua Bassett is dishing on his favorite song from High School Musical!

The 19-year-old High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star took part in Ellen’s Debate Club recently and was asked between “We’re All In This Together” or “Get’cha Head In The Game”.

“I think ‘We’re All In This Together’ is more iconic, probably because it’s catchier,” Joshua dished. “But there’s a soft spot in my heart for ‘Get’cha Head In The Game’, because I was JV Jock #2 in CYT’s production of ‘High School Musical’ when I was eight years old, and I dribbled a basketball. Although, my crossover was cut, which is devastating, but I still love that number, so it’s got a special place in my heart.”

Olivia Rodrigo & Joshua Bassett Open Up About The Emotional Finale For 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series'

Olivia Rodrigo & Joshua Bassett Open Up About The Emotional Finale For 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series'

Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett are talking all about that amazing, and emotional finale for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

If you haven’t watched the final episode of the freshmen season, be warned there are SPOILERS AHEAD!

Ricky (Bassett) finally said “I love you” to Nini (Rodrigo) after a season of ups and downs in the couple’s relationship.

“It was such a thrill to film because it felt like the whole season was leading up to that moment,” Joshua shared with ET. “I remember filming that day, I felt so alive and we were both so in it and it was so intense, and so surreal and yeah, it was a dream to film. I’m so excited for people to see it. But yeah, episode 10 was probably my favorite moment between Nini and Ricky.”

Olivia also revealed that Joshua improvised almost all of Ricky’s speech to Nini.

“I remember there was a monologue Ricky had to say to Nini about different memories that they had shared together, and [creator] Tim [Federle] told Josh, ‘Just improvise it.’ And he just improvised the most beautiful monologue,” she shared. “And he didn’t tell me that he was going to improvise it and so they got my reaction to him improvising this beautiful monologue on-camera.”

Olivia added, “I was just so taken aback. It was one of the most beautiful scenes that I think we’ve done in the series. I love that [moment]. And also in episode nine, there’s a really beautiful moment where they’re standing and they’re all holding hands, and Ricky and Nini are sneaking glances at each other. I just think that’s so sweet. Episodes nine and 10 are a good payoff for Ricky and Nini fans.”

'HSMTMTS' Creator Teases What's Next for the Characters in Season 2!

'HSMTMTS' Creator Teases What's Next for the Characters in Season 2!

(SPOILER ALERT: Do not continue reading if you haven’t seen the season one finale of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series!)

As we eagerly await season two of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, executive producer and showrunner Tim Federle is teasing us with what we can expect.

Here’s what the creator of the Disney+ series had to share in a new interview with ET:

On whether or not Nini will immediately tell Ricky about her offer: “That is such a good question that I can’t wait for viewers of episode 2×01 to discover.”

On if E.J. and Gina’s pairing will be revisited in season two: “So yes, to answer your question, do I see E.J. and Gina having further conversations and scenes in season two? I do just as much as I also see already– We’re turning in the sixth script of season two coming up and I already see such interesting combos all over the place, because these actors are so flexible and interesting that putting them in different pairings always leads to success.”

On Ricky and Gina’s pairing: “Something as simple as Ricky singing her a song in episode 6 can mean so much. And that is another thing musicals give you, which is the power of song, which is so inherently emotional and can tell so many stories that the script never could. I know we’ve got some Rina stans out there, and I’m hoping this show has five or seven seasons so we’ll see where they all end up.”

Joshua Bassett & Olivia Rodrigo Spill on Ricky & Nini's Future on 'High School Musical' Series

Joshua Bassett & Olivia Rodrigo Spill on Ricky & Nini's Future on 'High School Musical' Series

Joshua Bassett and Olivia Rodrigo are hinting at some big moments between Ricky and Nini in the final episodes of this season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series!

The co-stars recently opened up about the duo’s roller-coaster relationship in the series, with Joshua noting his favorite moment between the two “has not aired” yet.

“It perfectly mirrors real high school love lives. They can be pretty messy and the line is constantly blurred and literally every week, a new thing happens. I know at least when I was in high school, you’re trying to keep up with what’s going on and you’re like, ‘Wait, they’re dating who now? This happened last night, what are you talking about?’ Everything’s kind of all over the place and it’s cool to see the characters not only figure out their relationship with each other, but also grow into themselves as they are in their later years in high school and really starting to define who they are and what they stand for. I think it’s cool to see the development of that throughout this season and seasons to come,” Joshua told ET.

Olivia added, “Exactly that. I think it’s so cool to be able to play this relationship. It mimics a lot of actual high school relationships, like Josh said. That it’s just really fun and working with Josh and Matt [Cornett] has been amazing, and they’re both lovely people. I think Rini stans are really going to want to watch episodes nine and 10, I think they’re really going to love it.”
