Creator Terri Minsky told Variety a bit about the series finale, which airs tomorrow, July 26th.

“I didn’t want to end with a cliffhanger. I believe people will miss Andi and her friends and her family,” she shared. “To me, the finale is a way for them to tell our audience, ‘We’ll miss you, too, but you don’t have to worry about us: We’ll be fine.’”

The Paper Crane Project, created by fans, was on display at the event. It’s made of 1000 paper cranes, categorized and separated into strands of 10, each with a handwritten message from viewers around the world who expressed their appreciation for the series and its commitment to thoughtful, inclusive and entertaining stories that reflect their lives.

Did You Know Andi Mack's Joshua Rush & Asher Angel Have This In Common??

Joshua Rush and Asher Angel have been working together for a few years now, and now they have one big thing in common!

The Andi Mack co-stars have both played younger versions of Zachary Levi.

“I love Asher and there’s literally no one that I could’ve been happier [to see in Shazam!]…We’ve both been thinking for quite a long time…that we both look really similar, so it was just further indication of that because now we’ve both played young [versions of Zachary Levi characters]…well Billy Batson isn’t exactly the young version of Shazam but it’s semantics,” Joshua told TigerBeat.

Joshua played a young Chuck Bartowski in the TV series Chuck, which Zachary starred in, while Asher of course plays the teenage version of Billy Batson/Shazam.

Joshua Rush Was Booked For Another Disney Channel Pilot Before Landing 'Andi Mack' Role!

As Andi Mack comes to a close this week, we wanted to take a look back at how the actors got their roles on the show.

Throughout the week, JJJ will be sharing each of the core four’s casting stories, kicking off with Joshua Rush as Cyrus!

Joshua takes on the role of Cyrus Goodman, who is Disney’s first LGBTQ+ character. Cyrus first came out to Buffy in the season two premiere, revealing that he had a crush on Jonah Beck, at the same time as Andi Mack.

While Joshua was auditioning for the role, he was actually already booked as a lead in another Disney Channel pilot.

“He came in with a list of questions about my plans for Cyrus’ storyline, which I had to answer before he would even consider auditioning. I don’t know if he ever actually read the sides. He was already Cyrus. The other pilot was never made. (Belatedly, I’m feeling very guilty about that.),” creator Terri Minsky shared about his casting.

Be sure to stay tuned to JustJaredJr.com for the rest of the week to see how stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Sofia Wylie and Asher Angel all got their roles on Andi Mack!

The Andi Mack series finale will air on Friday (July 26) at 8pm on Disney Channel.

'Andi Mack' Storylines Will Wrap Up In Beautiful Way During Final Episodes

Andi Mack‘s final episodes are coming up soon and some of the cast is opening up about what to expect.

Stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Lilan Bowden, and Joshua Rush dished that storylines will come to a close, and they also reflected back on working on such an impactful show.

“There are so many wonderful storylines that wrap up in such a beautiful way—and I’m talking visually as well as emotionally,” Lilan told D23. “So, I can’t wait for fans to experience that.”

“I’m excited for fans to get to imagine a future for the characters,” Joshua added. “The way the show ends is really wonderful in that Cyrus, Andi, Buffy, Jonah, Bex, and Cece are going to keep living in their own world. I’m really excited for fans to see that.”

Peyton was thankful for the different representations featured on the program. “I think it’s really important that everyone is represented in the media,” she said. “Seeing someone who looks like you or someone you connect with onscreen is very important.”

“Being able to play this gay character has been absolutely incredible. It’s something a lot of older people did not have when they were growing up,” Joshua added. “And for these kids out there who are just having that realization in their own minds and are maybe internalizing it, I’m excited to give them an opportunity to see themselves portrayed. The other side of it is Cyrus being a Jewish character—a strong Jewish character. Because for me, when I grew up, Passover, or Pesach, was ‘Jewish Easter,’ and Chanukah was ‘Jewish Christmas.’ And it’s great to have a character out there who shows that Judaism is its own thing and that we are our own people.”

“It’s wonderful to be on a show that normalizes so many things we don’t see a lot of represented in the media,” Lilan chimed in. “We have the gay storyline, we have an Asian American family on TV, and the show is led by the three female characters. And on top of that, we have learning disabilities, we have a deaf character… Bex is a teen mom! For us to show so many different kinds of issues that real children and families face is so meaningful, because I can tell when I talk to our fans that it means everything to see themselves represented on TV.”

Andi Mack begins airing it’s final episodes THIS Friday (June 21) with the series finale set for July 26th.
