'Vampire Diaries' Characters Could Appear on 'The Originals' Post-Finale

If you’re super bummed about The Vampire Diaries ending, we have a little good news to ease your pain.

We recently chatted with executive producer Julie Plec and it sounds like it’s entirely possible that some of our favorite Mystic Falls residents could head to the French Quarter on The Originals.

“Definitely,” Julie told us. “Matt Davis shows up in episode 8 of this season of The Originals, which starts airing next Friday. And then if we’re lucky enough to do season five, then I think the door is wide open for the appearances of anybody.”

We’ve already seen several of the characters visit New Orleans, but it would be really interesting to see them there after TVD has ended.

TELL JJJ: Who do you want to see show up on The Originals?

'The Vampire Diaries' Finale Scoop: EP Julie Plec on Getting a Sense of Closure

'The Vampire Diaries' Finale Scoop: EP Julie Plec on Getting a Sense of Closure

It’s hard to believe that The Vampire Diaries will air its final episode tomorrow night after eight years on our television screens.

We’re definitely not ready to say goodbye to our favorite Mystic Falls residents, but we’re excited to see how the story ends.

We caught up with executive producer Julie Plec, who gave us some scoop about what we can expect in the final hour. Check it out below.

Don’t forget – The Vampire Diaries series finale airs Friday, March 10 @ 8PM on The CW.

JJJ: You and [fellow EP] Kevin Williamson had written an ending to the show years ago. Did you deviate from that at all? And if you didn’t, were you temped to?

Julie Plec: We did deviate from it, plot-wise because things change over eight years, not the least of which is Nina leaving after season six, which made certain things difficult – in terms of getting ourselves to that ending, what we had planned. But mostly I think, we landed in season two where we had the epiphany of an emotional response we wanted to evoke when we brought the series to a close, and we absolutely stayed true to that.

JJJ: At what point did you decide to kill someone off in the finale? Tell me about that decision.

JP: It just sort of felt that when you’re dealing with life and death things – in this case, will Mystic Falls burn? Will it survive? – someone is going to have to be murdered in the fight against the bad guy. So there were a lot of discussions about who that should be. And the choice of who it was, was made entirely out of character, bringing a character full circle to its proper conclusion.

Klaus & Caroline Will Not Be Ignored in 'The Vampire Diaries' Series Finale

Klaus & Caroline Will Not Be Ignored in 'The Vampire Diaries' Series Finale

If you’re a fan of Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Caroline (Candice King) as a couple on The Vampire Diaries, rest assured that the writers won’t leave you hanging.

We recently caught up with executive producer Julie Plec, who confirmed that the fan-favorite couple Klaroline will be referenced in some way in the upcoming series finale.

“All I can say is…look, here’s the thing. There’s a lot of battling and warring in the shipping fandom over Caroline’s future and who she’s meant to be with,” Julie told us. “All we wanted to do was basically say, look, this was a relationship that was important to us too, so we’re not going to ignore it.”

Of course, this doesn’t mean Caroline is going to run off with Klaus. She is married to Stefan (Paul Wesley), after all. But it’s nice to know that the writers wanted to honor that relationship before all is said and done.

“We are fans of the show of the too, as writers, and we want to see each character and each relationship come to its proper end, however we want to define that,” Julie said. “And we thought long and hard about these decisions. We feel, as fans, we enjoy how it ends and we hope other people can see that too.”

The Vampire Diaries series finale airs Friday, March 10 @ 8PM on The CW.

'The Vampire Diaries' Bosses Reveal Meaning Behind Show's 'Epic' Journey

'The Vampire Diaries' Bosses Reveal Meaning Behind Show's 'Epic' Journey

If you’re a big Vampire Diaries fan, you know the importance of the word “epic” on the show.

Not only was it one of the lines that Elena (Nina Dobrev) delivered to Stefan (Paul Wesley) in the second episode, but the series finale is titled “I Was Feeling Epic.”

“I did a lot of the early writing and Kevin [Williamson, executive producer] did a lot of the re-writing,” executive producer Julie Plec told EW. “We were trying to figure out the show as we went and I wrote the scene where Elena says, ‘We met, and we talked, and it was epic, but then the sun came up and reality set in.’ And I remember Kevin circling it on his script and giving it a triple check. A triple check from Kevin Williamson is, ‘I love this line.’”

Then we heard Lexi (Arielle Kebbel) say it to her BFF Stefan a few episodes later.

Kevin explained, “That line became Julie‘s favorite line of the entire show. From the very very beginning, we kept saying in the writers’ room: ‘It has to be epic. We want an epic moment.’ This whole show has always been about epic moments and that was the line.”

“I Was Feeling Epic” airs on Friday, March 10 @ 8PM on The CW.

Future Of 'The Originals' Still Up In The Air

Future Of 'The Originals' Still Up In The Air

Are you hoping to see more of your favorite French Quarter residents?

While The Originals has yet to premiere its fourth season, fans are already wondering about more episodes given that it was left off the list of newly-renewed CW shows.

Julie [Plec] and I spoke ahead of time about this,” the network’s president Mark Pedowitz said during 2017 TCA (via EW) “The Originals has not yet premiered for the season. It’ll probably be a discussion in May. I’m a big Julie Plec fan. I’m hoping The Originals will continue. A lot of it will depend on performance.”
