Justin Prentice and girlfriend Annika Pampel step out for the premiere of Tag held at Regency Village Theatre on Thursday night (June 7) in Westwood, Calif.
The 13 Reasons Why actor opened up to Vulture recently about one of his favorite scenes to film in season 2 – the slap scene!
“One of my favorite scenes was actually with his mom, Brenda Strong, the scene where she slaps me,” Justin says. “I think we did a few more takes than necessary just because the crew enjoyed watching it so much. ‘Yes, Bryce getting slapped! Let’s shoot this scene all day long!’”
If you haven’t watched the second season, Bryce’s mom slaps him after hearing how he raped Hannah, which was “awful”.
“It’s an interesting glimpse into their dynamic. His mother hasn’t been there for him and now, all of a sudden, she sees what Bryce has become and wants to be involved,” Justin adds. “From Bryce’s point of view, they’ve never been there, so why are they here now?”
“You get to see this unique moment where he snaps and drops all sense of façade. He really shows the monster that he is, or the monstrous side of him.”

“It’s a question of, is there more story to tell, do we want to see these kids not only continue to recover, but, how do they bring forward into their lives the thing they’ve learned about what they’ve been through?” showrunner Brian Yorkeyshared during the recent FYSee event.
He added, “The rest of the story is about young people, as so many young people, maybe all young people today (learn) how to heal from the things that have hurt them…to make the world that they want it to be, not just the world they are inheriting…and above all, how to take care of each other.”

The guys of 13 Reasons Why had a fun night out at Wango Tango!
The cast – including Justin Prentice, Devin Druid and Timothy Granaderos – stepped out for the event on Saturday night (June 2) at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
The trio had a special reason for being there too! They got to introduce Ariana Grande‘s performance!

The two 13 Reasons Why actors were joined by co-star Devin Druid, where they accepted an award on behalf of showrunner Brian Yorkey. One Day at a Time‘s Isabella Gomez was also seen at the event.
“In terms of Bryce’s ending, it pisses me off,” Justin recently shared in an interview with ET. “Our show is fictional and there are dramatized events. But one thing that it tries to do is sort of mirror reality in a sense and kind of put up a mirror and spotlight the issues that our country is specifically dealing with, but really all over the world.”
He adds, “Bryce is privileged [and] comes from a powerful family. He’s a straight, while male, and so it’s easier for him to get off, and we see that happening all the time and it sucks. I know fans are going to be super pissed off, but you should be pissed off because that’s the reality right now.”
One of the major twists on 13 Reasons Why in season two was the realization that Chloe was pregnant with Bryce’s baby.
During the trial, we all saw Chloe change her mind about testifying against Bryce and if the show is renewed for another season, her pregnancy might be one of the storylines fans will see, and get some answers to.
Speaking to ET, Justin Prentice opened up about the pregnancy and how it would affect the two, as well as how his family would play a part in it.
“I think that along with looking Bryce in the eye and being there made it way harder than she thought it was going to be to single him out,” Justin shared. “Bryce is very manipulative.”
He continues, “As we saw in the flashback when they were kids, he wasn’t always this monster of a person, so there are bits of goodness in Bryce… so I think she’s kind of confused in that moment.”
Justin also opened up on if abortion would be on the table, considering his family.
“I think it very much could be and it would be interesting to see how they handle it because from my point of view, Bryce comes from a powerful family and they have a way of making things disappear, so I don’t know. It’d be very interesting to see,” Justin says.
Anne Winters also shared an inspiring message for anyone going through what Chloe is going through on the show, too. Read it below:
The 24-year-old actor opened up in a new interview about playing the most hated guy in visual media right now on 13 Reasons Why.
“He sucks, he sucks quite a bit,” Justin says, not sugar coating how bad of a guy Bryce truly is. “He’s this encapsulation of all the bad guys in high school. We tried to bring him to life realistically, but yea, he does some pretty atrocious things.”
He also opened up about the legions of fans who are mean to him on social media because he does play Bryce.
“I take it as a compliment, I guess,” Justin says. “If people are just like ‘Oh my god, I love Bryce, he’s so fun’, then I probably screwed up my job.”
