Zendaya Says Goodbye to Disney Channel & 'K.C. Undercover'

That’s a wrap! Zendaya has officially ended her Disney Channel career. (We’re not crying, you are.)

The Greatest Showman actress took to Twitter on Friday (February 2) to bid farewell after three years on K.C. Undercover.

“Tonight is the last episode of KC, and therefore my last episode on Disney channel….” she wrote, adding, “The end of an era. On to the next. Thank you for continuing to grow with me,” along with a photo of her herself posing with the iconic Disney Channel logo.

Zendaya first starred in Disney Channel’s Shake It Up with Bella Thorne from 2010 to 2013.

You can catch Z in the upcoming thriller A White Lie, which she is co-producing with Reese Witherspoon.

Looking Back at Everything Zendaya's Said About 'K.C. Undercover': 'K.C. Is a Good Role Model for Boys & Girls'

We’re taking a look back at K.C. Undercover as the series ends tonight on Disney Channel — and looking even more at everything star and executive producer Zendaya has said about the show.

When the series first premiered on January 18th, 2015, the actress wanted to have a character who wasn’t the typical Disney teen.

“There’s not many girls on television who get to kick butt but are also educated and strong,” Zendaya shared with Galore mag in 2015. “I feel like K.C. is just a good role model for boys [as she is for] girls.”

“It’s not gender specific — it’s for everyone to watch.”

But she wasn’t only in front of the screen — she was also an executive producer and she was excited for the role.

“I would say the fact that I am able to have creative input is really cool and I’m able to have fun and just explore what my vision is,” she shared in another interview.

She added, “If I have an idea for the show or anything that I feel I want to create then I have the space and the place to do that. It’s awesome.”

Zendaya also opened up to several other publications about returning to Disney Channel and having more diversity, and power on the series.

“The only way I was going to come back to the Disney Channel was if I was in a position of more power,” she shared with Cosmopolitan in 2016. “One thing that is really important to me is diversity on the channel. It’s hard as a young person of a different ethnicity or background to look at the TV and not see anyone who looks like you. Representation is very important.”

And let’s not forget about Zendaya getting the network to change almost all of the original concept for the show.

“I wanted to make sure that she wasn’t good at singing or acting or dancing,” Zendaya said of K.C. to Vogue in 2017. “That she wasn’t artistically inclined. I didn’t want them to all of a sudden be like, ‘Oh, yeah, and then she sings this episode!’ No. She can’t dance; she can’t sing. She can’t do that stuff. There are other things that a girl can be.”

“I want her to be martial arts-trained. I want her to be able to do everything that a guy can do,” Zendaya added. “I want her to be just as smart as everybody else. I want her to be a brainiac. I want her to be able to think on her feet.

“But I also want her to be socially awkward, not a cool kid. I want her to be normal with an extraordinary life.”

K.C. Undercover will conclude with an hour-long episode TONIGHT @ 9PM ET/PT on Disney Channel.

Can you believe that tonight is the series finale of K.C. Undercover? We can’t either!

JJJ is definitely going to miss this show a lot — which is why the cast sat down for a special featurette just for us!

Zendaya, Veronica Dunne, Trinitee Stokes, Kamil McFadden, Kadeem Hardison and Tammy Townsend all opened up about their favorite episodes of the three-season series.

In the finale episode, K.C. (Zendaya) and Marisa (Dunne) are preparing for their high school graduation and their next steps in life.

While Marisa is excited to attend FIT in New York to pursue her dreams as a fashion mogul, K.C. is still struggling to decide if she is going to continue life as a spy or attend Stanford and try to live a “normal” life.

Meanwhile, just as the Coopers think the threat of the notorious criminal The Mask is behind them, they discover the evil mastermind is still at large and is someone very close to them.

K.C. Undercover will conclude with an hour long episode TONIGHT, Friday, February 2nd @ 9PM ET/PT on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW.

Zendaya Returned to Disney Channel Because of the Lack of Diversity

Zendaya Returned to Disney Channel Because of the Lack of Diversity

Earlier this fall, Zendaya wrapped up production on her long running Disney Channel series, K.C. Undercover, and speaking with the NYTimes, we now know why she returned to the network.

“The only reason I wanted to come back to the Disney Channel is because there was a lack of diversity at that time,” the actress reveals in a new interview. “There weren’t any leads or families of color, and I felt like that was something that needed to happen.”

Now, with Andi Mack, Raven’s Home, and Stuck in the Middle, the diversity is there.

However, that’s not the only reason she was back in action at the channel.

“I thought the idea of a girl doing a ‘guy role’ was really important,” Zendaya adds. “Young women are able to look at the screen and see that they can be anything, that they can do it all. A little boy can look up to a girl and say, ‘I want to be like this girl.’ And that’s awesome.”

The final season of K.C. Undercover is expected to debut in 2018.

The 'K.C. Undercover' Cast Celebrates Their Final Table Read

The K.C. Undercover cast had their final table read this week — though whether it marks the end of season 3 or of the show in its entirety is not yet clear.

“Love these peeps! Last table read…. #KCUndercover” Trinitee Stokes, who plays Judy Cooper, wrote on Instagram.

The photo also features her co-stars Veronica Dunne, Zendaya, Tammy Townsend, Kamil McFadden, and Kadeem Hardison.

Zendaya and Veronica have both implied that the show is almost over in interviews.

“I can’t answer that for sure, but if it was [ending], I think it’d just be a great way to end this season, and end this show, because it’s come to a great end and a beautiful family has grown up,” Veronica shared.

THIS HAD BETTER NOT BE THE END! We’re not ready!
