“2016 has begun with many changes in our world, one of which was parting ways with our record label. This new found independence has allowed us to take some time to reflect and decide how we would like to move forward in our careers,” they wrote.
“After a lot of thought, we’ve decided to take a break from making music together to focus on individual aspirations. The past five years together as Kalin and Myles have been amazing. It has been incredible traveling around sharing our music and getting to meet so many of you. Getting to know you and grow up with you has been a privilege. Your support has allowed us to chase our dreams and we are forever grateful. We have grown a lot during this time and our hearts are now in different places.
“Although this will be the start of a new chapter, the one thing that will remain the same is our support for each other and all of you. We’re excited about the future for all of us. Thank you for everything. We love y’all!”

The guys — Kalin White and Myles Parrish — say that the album is the “culmination of a four-year grind” and features some of their biggest and brightest anthems yet. Recorded between San Francisco and Los Angeles, Myles personally produced half of the tracks, while the group also enlisted the talents of hit makers Jim Jonsin and Serm Style.
“The vibes from this album are very ‘us.’ Everyone can expect a lot of energy,” Kalin & Myles recently told us. “We really put our own sound into this album, and you can hear a lot of our original roots.”
Kalin & Myles look super swoon-worthy in this feature for NKD magazine’s November 2015 issue.
The guys – Kalin White and Myles Parrish – opened up to the glossy about their debut album and how they built up their fan base. Check it:
On starting out: “We would promote the shows on Facebook and push them out to everyone we know and it would take like three hours, thousands of clicks. When we would see certain girls that would keep coming back, and know the songs, and be into it, and some would make their own t-shirts. This was within the first five months of us dropping the song. People were coming from a couple hours away, that was pretty legit. I think that, too, inspired us to make it work.”
On their fans: “We were hungry for it, at first, we wanted to just try to play wherever we could, whoever would let us play. [Austin Mahone] pretty much had the place sold out, so that was our first time performing in front of a big crowd like that. We got to know these girls really well, and they helped us get a really good show back home.”
On their new album: “Just the way that people listen to music these days, I don’t feel anybody’s stuck in one genre. I feel like a lot of our inspirations are coming from a bunch of different genres, and I feel that it’s natural for it to translate that way when we’re making music.”
JJJ was lucky enough to chat with the guys — Kalin White and Myles Parrish — and we got the scoop on the song, their new album and more. Check it:
JJJ: What about “Brokenhearted” made you say “this has to be our single”?
Kalin & Myles: “Brokenhearted” just felt like it had a good energy from the moment we started working on it! It sounded a little different for us, but it felt right.
JJJ: Everyone can relate to a broken heart. What’s the best advice for dealing with one?
K&M: Time is definitely key. And keeping good people around you.
JJJ: Your debut album is coming out soon. How does it differ from your EPs?
K&M: We’ve spent the past year working on this album, which is more time than we’ve spent on any project before this. There are so many butterflies, we’re nervous but also very excited to finally share this with everyone!
JJJ: What can fans expect in terms of the themes and vibe of the album?
K&M: The vibes from this album are very “us.” Everyone can expect a lot of energy. We really put our own sound into this album, and you can hear a lot of our original roots. There are a lot of Kalin’s R&B influences, and some Bay Area sounds from Myles.
JJJ: You’ve been seemingly on the road nonstop lately. Favorite city so far? Or favorite fan moment?
K&M: We love being on the road and traveling! Our favorite city this tour has to have been Philly, they got turnt for that show! We have favorite fan moments everyday. Seeing these girls wait in line or sing the words to our songs is such a beautiful thing, they make all this possible for us.
JJJ: Do you get to hang out with the Timeflies guys a lot in between shows? Any fun stories you can tell us?
K&M: We haven’t really gotten a chance to hang out with them yet, our schedule’s are usually so different. But we’ve watched their set a few times, they put on an amazing show. Kalin’s still waiting to challenge Cal in a freestyle contest!
