To celebrate her birthday, Disney+ dropped the trailer for Stargirl, the 16-year-old singer’s acting debut.
Here’s a synopsis: Leo Borlock is an average student at Mica High School. He gets decent grades, is a member of the school’s marching band and has always been content flying under the radar. But all that changes when he meets Stargirl Caraway, a confident and colorful new student with a penchant for the ukulele, who stands out in a crowd.
She is kind, finds magic in the mundane and touches the lives of others with the simplest of gestures. Her eccentricities and infectious personality charm Leo and the student body, and she quickly goes from being ignored and ridiculed to accepted and praised, then back again, sending Leo on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
The 20-year-old actor got an outline of a picture of the two, framed like a Polaroid, with a sentence from a letter Cameron wrote for Karan. It reads, “Your partner in crime. Cam.”

Also in attendance were Timeline stars G Hannelius and Rachel Crow with their cast mates, as well as Travis Mills, who premiered his new series The Coop.

The late actor’s friends Karan Brar and Sophie Reynolds, and his family, Victor, Libby and Maya, appear in a video message to talk about the fight to end SUDEP, Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy.
K(NO)W SUDEP NOW aims to bring awareness and to end sudden unexpected death in epilepsy through education and helping accelerate research.
“The Cameron Boyce Foundation & @epilepsyfdn are teaming up in the fight to end SUDEP. Check out @knowsudepnow to learn, share, and donate so we can work together and save lives. 💜,” Karan wrote on social media.
The duo, who were Cameron‘s closest friends and roommates, took the stage at the ceremony on Saturday night (September 28) at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
During the ceremony, Karan and Sophie presented the inaugural Cameron Boyce Pioneering Spirit Award, which honors those who have used their platform to help provide clean drinking water to people around the world.
Cameron was previously given the Spirit Award and it has now been renamed in his memory.
Karan and Sophie presented this year’s award to YouTuber Craig Thompson, who has raised more than $155,000 to build freshwater wells in Kingdom of eSwatini.
