Kelsea Ballerini Will Perform Her Hit Song 'Legends' With Reba McEntire at CMA Music Awards Tonight

Kelsea Ballerini Will Perform Her Hit Song 'Legends' With Reba McEntire at CMA Music Awards Tonight

Kelsea Ballerini shines in a silver dress while performing on Good Morning America in Nashville, Tenn., on Wednesday (November 8).

The 23-year-old country star will be performing her hit song “Legends” with Reba McEntire tonight on the CMA Music Awards — and yes, Reba is a big fan of it!

“We’ve gotten to meet, and I think she’s a terrific young lady, very talented singer-songwriter, and I love the song,” Reba shared with CMT.

She adds, “I’ve seen the video, and it is just so emotional. I hope everybody likes our performance as much as I’m going to enjoy getting to sing with her.”

We can’t wait to watch their performance!

Click inside NOW to find out the story behind Kelsea’s “Legends”…

“It’s a chameleon. It’s the first song that I’ve ever written that has changed meanings for me,” Kelsea writes for The Boot.

“I wrote it from a breakup three years ago, because I had written a lot of ‘Get Over Yourself,’ ‘Miss Me More,’ ‘Graveyard’ kind of songs — angsty, dark, mad, sad. But I was so ready to be over it, and I think that to really be over it, you have to acknowledge the good. So that was my song of acknowledging the good, in a very bright way.

“And then when it was time to pick the single, this song kept raising its hand. And I was like, ‘Man. This isn’t where I’m at anymore, and I don’t know if I relate to it anymore like that.’ So I started listening to it, and it changed meanings for me. It’s a love song to me now, and it’s about a love that you’re nostalgic about, that doesn’t necessarily have to end. So it’s the last song on the record because, to me, it’s kind of like that forever, which I think will open up to start the next chapter of whatever that looks like.”

Kelsea Ballerini Talks About Living On That Line Between Country & Pop Music

Kelsea Ballerini Talks About Living On That Line Between Country & Pop Music

Kelsea Ballerini isn’t a traditional country star, nor a pop star either — and she’s okay with that.

Speaking with Variety in support of her brand new album, Unapologetically, the musician opened up about what it truly means to be on that thin country-pop line.

“My first single to country radio was ‘Love Me Like You Mean It,’ and it was very, very pop-leaning, but it was still rooted in country,” Kelsea explains. “I tell everyone: I grew up on a farm in east Tennessee, and my first concert was Britney Spears. That’s my music, and that’s me.”

She adds, “I feel like country artists are known for being honest and truthful. And I just feel like it’s my job as a country artist now to be honest about the fact that I love pop music and I love rap music and I love rock music, and I think it’s okay if all that bleeds into my music as influences.”

“It’ll always be rooted in songwriting, and it’ll always be rooted in the Southern lifestyle that I grew up in. But, yes, this record is on that line, because I just don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.

Kelsea is pictured below at the 2017 Nickelodeon Halo Awards on Saturday (November 4) and at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she performed “I Hate Love Songs”, both in New York City.

FYI: Kelsea wore a Victoria Hayes top and shorts, Aldo shoes and Graziela Gems on the orange carpet. For her performance, Kelsea switched it up to a David Koma top, Zhivago pants and Lana Jewelry ring. For The Late Show, Kelsea wore a Maria Lucia Hohan dress and Ruthie Davis shoes.

Kelsea Ballerini is most likely a full believer in the “when you know, you know” mantra know.

Just hours before dropping her sophomore album, the musician revealed to USA Today that lead track “Unapologetically” was written just after she met her now fiance, Morgan Evans.

“We wrote the song right after I had gotten back from Australia,” Kelsea shares. “I remember just really in my head being like, ‘Oh I feel it happening, love is happening,’ but I couldn’t really talk about it yet.”:

“So before you talk about it, you write about it.”

Kelsea Ballerini Recalls That Her Favorite Fan Experience Made Her Super Emotional

Kelsea Ballerini is fully connected with all her fans on social media and on tour — but there’s one in particular that still stands out to her to this day.

The “High School” singer opened up about the experience to EW and how she actually had to shut her meet and greet down because of it.

“I was on tour with Lady Antebellum, and there were these two really young twins, who were both developmentally disabled, and they came up,” Kelsea says. “They were so sweet and both cried. When they walked away, their dad was like, ‘I can’t imagine what your life’s like, but I want you to know that the only time they’re ever completely calm is when they’re listening to your music.’”

She adds, “I had to shut down my meet-and-greet because I was weeping.”

We’d have to do the same thing!

Kelsea‘s new album, Unapologetically, is out on Friday.
