'Good Trouble' Stars & EPs Talk How The Show Will Have A Different Tone From 'The Fosters'

'Good Trouble' Stars & EPs Talk How The Show Will Have A Different Tone From 'The Fosters'

The cast of Good Trouble stepped out for a few panels to promote their new series on Freeform on Monday night (January 7).

Cierra Ramirez, Sherry Cola, Ken Kirby, and Zuri Adele joined EPs Joanna Johnson and Bradley Bredeweg at a CAPE screening, and AAFCA & NALIP screening to hype up the new series, which premieres TONIGHT.

“We didn’t set out to change the tone. That wasn’t the drive. It wasn’t, ‘Oh, let’s do it differently.’ It was, ‘What are the stories that we want to tell? What’s the world we want to explore?’ and then it was, “OK, what is the most interesting way to tell those stories?’” executive producer Peter Paige told TV Guide about the new series.

He adds, “That birthed the new tone, which is brighter and funnier and messier and sexier and dirtier. It’s all of those things that, frankly, life is in your 20s.”

Peter continued, revealing that Good Trouble would be much different than The Fosters in this way: “We told pretty brave stories on The Fosters, but there’s no moms to save the day. There’s no one telling you it’s going to be OK. You have to go find somebody who sees you and gets you to support you on that journey.”

“That freed us up for them to make bigger mistakes, have bigger victories, surround themselves with people on similar journeys. I am so excited what this soup cooked up to be.”
