Kevin McHale is opening up in a candid new interview on why he thinks Glee lost its viewers and why there shouldn’t be a spinoff series.
“I will say, not to bring it down or anything, when Cory Monteith died. I don’t think the show ever came back from that,” the 26-year-old actor told The Huffington Post. “It wasn’t for a lack of trying, but the story was going in one direction with his character [Finn Hudson] and he was one of two main characters of the show.”
“I think after that the vibe on set was different,” he added. “It was just weird for us being there never mind actually having to be filming. Being one of the writers in that sort of situation — I wouldn’t have known what I would have done because I was like, ‘I don’t really even want to be here.’”
When asked if he thinks Artie should get a spinoff, Kevin said, “Towards the end, there weren’t that many people watching Glee. So I don’t know how many people would then watch a spinoff. We’re off the air for a reason.”

The 25-year-old former NLT member wrote the track with his former bandmates Kevin McHale (yes, from Glee fame) and Chris Moy, both of whom joined him for the worldwide radio premiere earlier this week. Check out the pic below!
“Writing ‘Heartless’ was a great experience because I got to write with two of my best friends about a moment that I not only had to live through but was lucky enough to have them by my side the entire time,” Justin said.
The song appears on his new EP Faces, which you can get now on iTunes!
Kevin McHale waves to the cameras after his appearance on BBC Breakfast in London on Wednesday morning (March 18).
“Keeps hitting me that Glee will be over forever in 2 days. Couldn’t be prouder to have been a part of it,” the 26-year-old actor wrote on Twitter afterwards.
Speaking with Access Hollywood recently, Kevin talked about the series finale and saying goodbye.
“We’re all gonna be a mess,” Kevin shared. “I would think maybe Lea [Michele will cry the most]… She can just turn it on. But, even in scenes when I look at her and she starts tearing up, it gets me. There’s something about when she cries. It hits you.”
