Shawn Mendes and Khalid have dropped their moving “Youth” music video, just in time for the midterm elections.
The “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” singer and the “OTW” crooner released the video on Monday (November 5).
Co-written by Marjory Stoneman Douglas students Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg, director Anthony Mandler, and Larry Jackson, the seven-minute video spotlights over 30 inspiring young people from around the world.
The young activists, painters, dancers, gun violence survivors, musical prodigies, and many more are splashed against a stunning New York City backdrop.
“For the ‘Youth’ video, we wanted to make something that would highlight and empower young people, by giving the stage to a group of extraordinary kids,” Shawn said. “Khalid and I wanted them to be the focus of the video, and to give them a platform, in the hope that it can inspire other young people to pursue what they love and use their voice.”
The sixth annual concert was held in support of the Young Survival Coalition, the premier organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer.
Shawn and Khalid teamed up during the show for a collaboration of their song “Youth.” Tyga surprised the crowd by bringing out Chris Brown.
