Kirsten Prout made headlines last year when it was announced she’d nabbed the role of Lucy in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
The 19-year-old actress recently sat down with IESB to chat about her role, dealing with the paparazzi in Vancouver and if she’s ever return to television after Kyle XY. Check it:
On playing a villain: “I’ve always been on the good side. I’ve never played a villain, in my entire career. I’m the girl next door, or the girl who helps out, or the girl that makes an innocent escape. For once, I got to look all innocent and have that angelic quality, and then, all of a sudden, turn into something really dark. That was fun for me. That was the first villain that I’ve ever played.”
On her first experience with the paparazzi in Vancouver: “The first day that Jackson came into work, he almost tripped on the stairs, coming out of his house, because there were so many photographers that he couldn’t even see. The circus around all the trailers and everything was crazy. They had giant black dividers to keep paparazzi out. On the first day, they took down all the signage and blocked everything out. All the actors had to wear bathrobes to cover their wardrobe in between scenes. It was really intense.”
On if she’d return to a scripted television series: “Yeah, totally. The thing with my career is that I’ve never said, “I’m only going to do this. I’m only going to do that.” For me, seeing material that I like is the most important part. I look for something that I’m passionate about. If a television series came my way and I read the script and loved it, I would totally do another television series.”
Kirsten Prout recently sat down with PopEater to chat about all things Eclipse, Tae Kwon Do and the Vatican. Check out what the 19-year-old actress had to say:
On how she won the role of Lucy: “I just got the call. I went for one of the other vampires, Bree, and the vampire Bree is supposed to be thirteen years old with very short brown hair. So physically I was absolutely wrong for the part. But I went in, and the casting director and the director liked me so much that they said, ‘OK, you know what? We have another part.’ So they fit me in through that audition, into Lucy, who is also a newborn vampire, and she actually is the one who turns Jasper, which is interesting. The thing about Lucy is that she has long blond hair and very very pale blue eyes and skin, so physically I was a big match for Lucy. I went in for one more audition for Lucy and I ended up showing up on set a few days later.”
On finishing her tae kwon do training while filming Elektra: “I did tae kwon do for a very long time, and I made it to recommended black. I consider myself a black belt just because…(laughs) I got recommended black belt, and then I got Elektra and I couldn’t go to class anymore, but I had four personal trainers, who were all trained in tae kwon do and various martial arts. I did all my own stunts. (laughs) I pretty much finished my training there.”
On the Vatican condemning the Twilight franchise: “As for the Vatican…the Vatican pretty much condemns everything. It condemned Harry Potter. (laughs) Anything bigger than the actual church is condemned a lot of the time. To have attention, and that kind of fandom and that dedication, I think that’s unattractive to them. And it’s kind of expected. Vampires, mythical creatures of the night. I mean, look at the witch hunts and all these things that have happened with the Vatican. It’s a topic that they don’t really like to discuss a lot. It is what it is. And everyone is going to have their different reactions and everyone is entitled to say what they want….And it’s just a movie at the end of the day…just go in and enjoy the movie! Take it for what it is. It’s make-believe. It’s a teenage franchise. It’s a lot of fun.”

Kirsten Prout keeps it flirty in a midnight blue and pink dress as she attends The Bleeding premiere held at the Laemmle Sunset 5 Theater in West Hollywood on Monday night (November 2).
The 19-year-old actress caught up with Movieline at last week’s Fresh Faces in Fashion event and dished that she’s ready for the mania that comes with the Twilight phenomenon.
Kirsten shared, “I’m relatively ready. I try not to read the message boards. I get e-mails about them from my friends, some strange, strange stuff. I was at the GAP the other day, and there was a teller who literally was like, ‘You’re Lucy in Twilight.’ I can’t believe the fan base is so big and underground that people would recognize me from a movie that didn’t come out. I said ‘thank you’ and started blushing.”
She continued, “I got a taste of it when I was 13, and I was in Elektra. But coming onto Twilight? It’s a different kind of magnitude.”
