KJ Apa Previews Archie In Prison on 'Riverdale': 'I Think He'll Do Okay'

When we last left Riverdale, Archie had just gotten arrested for the murder of townie Cassidy.

While he didn’t actually kill kim, KJ Apa is kind of loving the idea of seeing Archie in prison.

“Archie’s a tough nut, I think he’ll do OK in prison,” he told TVLine. “I guess it depends how gnarly these Riverdale prisons are.”

“I want him to get a whole lot of tats, I want him to join a gang… I want all of that,” he added. “I didn’t think we could get darker with him, but you keep getting surprised by these writers.”

While we kind of love the idea of Archie getting some ink, will this actually happen? Maybe!

“We’ve just started talking about Season 3,” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared. “There might be a courtroom thriller element to it. There might also be sort of a prison noir element to it as well. We always kind of have crime and noir elements.”

He adds, “The prospect of Archie on trial is pretty delicious. And the prospect of Archie in a juvenile detention center is pretty delicious. [Laughs] So we’ll see what’s ahead.”
