Kristen Gutoskie is heading to The Vampire Diaries, according to Deadline!

The 30-year-old actress is making the transition to TVD from another CW show, Containment, which was cancelled after just one season.

Kristen is set to play Selina, a warm, nurturing nanny by day and a small-town girl trying to find her place in a dangerous world by night. Selina will fight desperately to protect her loved ones.

Containment‘s series finale air will air on July 19th and the eighth season of The Vampire Diaries is set to begin on October 21, 2016.

On landing her Containment role: “I’d done a lot of work in Canada, and I’d worked on a British Series in South Africa, but it just feels like such a bigger scale when you’re here in the U.S. You’re on this big set and you’re with all these actors you recognize from huge projects and there’s an incredible director; it’s surreal”

On how she got into the business: “I always felt like acting was the way that I could truly express myself. When you’re a kid, it’s hard. There’s bullying in school, and acting was the place that was a real outlet for me.”

On being Canadian: “I’m in such a lucky position to have the opportunity to do work in two places I love. Most of my work of late has been in the U.S, but I’ve always got my Canadian agent hustling.”

Complete chaos is about to erupt tonight on the series premiere of Containment.

Adapted from the Belgian series Cordon by the genius that is Julie Plec, Containment follows the lives of different people when a mysterious and deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta and a a vast urban quarantine is quickly enforced, forcing those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives while local and federal officials desperately search for a cure.

The series puts Vampire Diaries alum Chris Wood at the helm, with a talented cast that includes David Gyasi, Christina Moses, Kristen Gutoskie, Claudia Black, George Young, Hanna Mangan Lawrence, and Trevor St. John.

JustJaredJr.com got to visit the set last year and sit down with the cast to talk about their characters and the relationships we’ll see overlap amidst the craziest of circumstances.

“Essentially [Lex] starts off as a guy who feels and thinks and uses his heart, and things aren’t that complicated in his life,” David told JJJ about his character, who is a Major in the Atlanta PD. “He knows who he loves, he knows the workforce, he knows the people that he serves, and he knows what he wants to do with those things. And this virus comes in and shakes that all up. Right and wrong, and good and bad, become real challenges to him. As we go through the episodes, he has some really big decisions to make.”

Containment airs TONIGHT, April 19 @ 9/8c on The CW.

The guys were also joined on stage by their co-stars Christna Moses, Hanna Mangan Lawrence, Kristen Gutoskie, Claudia Black, and George Young, as well as EP Julie Plec.

“There’s a lot of finger-pointing that starts happening about where it came from and why it has arrived,” Chris said about the show (via TV Guide). “It’s not just that someone points a finger, but there are voices of reason on the show. If anything, there are more people asking the questions and trying to solve the puzzle of why and how is this here.”

Chris Wood keeps it sharp in a suit as he arrives for the CW Network’s 2015 Upfront held at the London Hotel on Thursday morning (May 14) in New York City.

The 27-year-old actor joined his new Containment cast mates Christina Moses, Claudia Black, Kristen Gutoskie and David Gyasi at the event.

Containment, formerly titled Cordon, centers on what happens when a deadly epidemic breaks out in Atlanta and a large city quarantine is quickly enforced, leaving those stuck on the inside to fight for their lives.
