The former Best Friends Whenever actress will voice Makini, a spirited young mandrill who serves as Rafiki’s young apprentice.
Makini is described as “exuberant, bubbly and talkative”. She’s also very eager to start her training with Rafiki to become an advisor to the royal family.
In this weekend’s extended episode, “The Rise of Scar”, Rafiki introduces the Lion Guard to Makini.
After overhearing a conversation between Kion and his grandfather, Mufasa, Makini inadvertently gives some information to Ushari the snake which helps him conspire with the hyenas to contact the Pride Lands’ greatest villain, Scar (David Oyelowo).

The former Best Friends Whenever star dished to Prune mag that she’ll be in the upcoming season of Netflix’s Fuller House.
“That has been really fun, and the cast is amazing, they’ve been very welcoming,” she shared in her interview. “It’s the kind of show where it had such a legacy behind it, so I was intimidated at first.”
Landry will be playing Rocki, who’s rumored to be the daughter of Gia, the once upon a time rival turned BFF of Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin). But — it’s just a rumor — for now.
Although born in 2000, Landry is still an avid watcher of the original series.
“All the references and all of the jokes, I got them immediately,” she shared. “It’s a really great show and very much a family show. Walking onto set, they’re like a family in real life too.”
