The 27-year-old designer chatted with the glossy about all things fashion including her collection, closet and more. Check it:
On building a wardrobe: “Whenever someone comes up to me and says, ‘I’m having trouble shopping.’ I tell them to pull out their 10 favorite, most-worn pieces, then build a wardrobe around them. You need to figure out what you gravitate toward, what makes you feel good—and those staples are going to be different for everybody.”
On the inspiration behind her line: “At first, I was just designing for myself. Then I started getting comments from women who didn’t have my body type, saying things like, ‘I have a larger chest and can’t wear this tent-shaped dress.’ So I’ve learned to make pieces that don’t necessarily flatter me but look great on someone else.”
On how she stands apart from other ‘celebrity’ designers: “I spent years in school for this. It wasn’t just, ‘I like clothes! I’m going to make some!’”

“Trying to decide between a retro red or a hot pink lip for tonight’s 24 hour Cotton fashion show… decisions, decisions,” the 27-year-old designer tweeted before arriving.

“I’m renovating a condo, so I’ve been spending my weekends shopping for home stuff at flea markets,” Lauren recently shared with Lucky mag while chatting about her boyfriend student William Tell.
She added, “He’s just a jeans and T-shirt guy, which I like. I like no-fuss style. Sometimes I’ll buy him clothes and sneak them into his drawer!”

On her fashion regrets: “I try to never look back at how I dressed in the first few seasons of Laguna Beach because it was pretty bad…head-to-toe bad. This past summer, MTV replayed every episode and I would always see it and be like, ‘Ahh, noo! I wore these capri denim pants a lot and they were so bad.’”
On the last movie that made her cry: “This is really cheesy, but it was the Katy Perry movie. I saw it on a plane and started tearing up. The movie touched on her divorce and how she had to go up on stage every night. She’s crying as she goes up, and once the lights go on, she just smiles and pulls it off, and you’re like, wow!”
On something people don’t know about her: “I wasn’t allowed to watch MTV until I was 16 and I got cast [on Laguna Beach] when I was 17. I thought it was funny. I was like, I was just allowed to watch this not that long ago!”
