Kennedy McMann Will Play Nancy Drew in CW's New Pilot!

The CW’s new Nancy Drew series has found its star!

Kennedy McMann will take on the iconic role in the pilot, based on the mystery novels, Deadline reports.

Charmed‘s Leah Lewis will co-star in the pilot, and Supergirl‘s Larry Teng will direct. The Vampire DiariesMelinda Hsu Taylor will serve as as executive producer/showrunner.

The untitled Nancy Drew project tells the story of “18-year-old Nancy Drew (McMann) and is set in the summer after her high school graduation. She thought she’d be leaving her hometown for college, but when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation — and along the way, uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined. When Nancy ends up a suspect in a murder, it rekindles her love for detective work, even though the clues lead her to believe that a long-dead local girl may be the killer.”

Leah will play George, “a tough, tattooed girl from the wrong side of the tracks who felt personally wronged by Nancy in high school. George now finds herself a suspect in the killing along with her former nemesis, forcing her to team up with Nancy to track the culprit and clear their names… and it just may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

Kennedy attended Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and has appeared on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU and NBCU’s Gone.

“The 12-year-old girl in me hogging the family computer playing Nancy Drew computer games and living out fantasies in her head about solving mysteries has been crying tears of joy for the past three days,” she shared on Instagram. “An absolutely incomprehensible dream come true. Here we go, Nancy. ❤️🕵🏼‍♀️”

Leo Howard & Jason Earles Reunite For Disney Channel 'Free Period' Short - Watch Now!

Leo Howard shows off his sword fighting skills in a brand new Free Period short, which debuted on Disney Channel’s YouTube this weekend.

In the “Arcanum” short, a young rock and roller (Howard) seeks a mystical artifact to save the world from an ancient evil, but the mysterious librarian (Louis Mandylor) who owns it has other plans.

Also starring Leah Lewis and Jason Earles, the latter teased the new short on his Instagram.

“#Arcanum supernatural kick ass action thriller. With enough views and likes maybe an Original movie or Series! Spread the word!” he wrote. We’re down for this!

Leah Lewis keeps it chic on the red carpet as she arrives at the premiere of Prom held at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on Thursday evening (April 21).

The 14-year-old actress was joined on the red carpet by Katherine McNamara — the twosome star opposite Prom star Nolan Sotillo in the upcoming Disney Channel pilot, Madison High.

Leah will star as Peyton Hall, a formerly home-schooled tennis champion while Katherine tries to steal the scene as Cherry O’Keefe, Madison High’s resident queen bee and blogger.

Leah Lewis & Luke Benward Join 'Madison High'

Meet Luke Benward and Leah Lewis, the new faces of Madison High!

You might recognize Luke from Minutemen – he played Charlie. The 15-year-old actor will play Devin Daniels, a motocross racer looking for a new hobby.

Leah, 14, will be playing Peyton Hall, a formerly home-schooled tennis champion. Leah actually has a 4 1/2 octave range! Can’t wait to hear her sing!

G Hannelius has also snagged a role as Wednesday Malone, a precocious starlet in the making — that, we can see!

And get excited, Ms. Darbus is back! Alyson Reed will be reprising her High School Musical role, relocating from East to Madison High.

At Madison High, the students embark on a journey of self discovery while trying to build a revolutionary theatre program under the tutelage of Ms. Darbus. She casts a diverse troupe of both seasoned and raw actors to create an original musical production based on their lives.

Production on the pilot begins in March in consideration for a Disney Channel series to premiere in early 2012. The series will also four original songs.
