Danielle Rose Russell Dishes On Old 'Vampire Diaries' Stars Popping Up on 'Legacies': 'It Needs To Be Its Own Thing'

Danielle Rose Russell Dishes On Old 'Vampire Diaries' Stars Popping Up on 'Legacies': 'It Needs To Be Its Own Thing'

There’s been a lot of talk lately about former Vampire Diaries stars returning to pop up on new series, Legacies.

Star Danielle Rose Russell recently opened up about why the cameos, or guest roles, aren’t actually necessary.

“We definitely have people there. But the show is so new, it needs to be its own things,” Danielle reasons with Collider. “You will have the history from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, if you know those shows, but if you don’t know those shows, you don’t need to have watched them.”

She adds, “It needs to take its own independence as a show, if that makes sense.”

However, if there is a need to bring a character back for a storyline, Danielle knows exactly who she wants – Joseph Morgan.

“I’m hoping for the ghost form of Klaus. I just want Joseph Morgan back to work with again,” she confessed. “I would really like to see Hope and her Aunt Freya. I always loved that dynamic, which was explored a bit in Season 5 (of The Originals). I thought that was so sweet, so I would like to see Hope and Freya again.”

She adds, “I know that all of these actors have moved on to do other things, so we’d be grateful for anyone who comes in.”

Legacies returns in January on The CW.

Vampire Diaries' Villain Kai Could Possibly Pop Up On 'Legacies'

Kai might actually be the next former Vampire Diaries character to pop up on Legacies!

In the first half of the debut season, fans have seen Zach Roerig, Steven R. McQueen and even Jodi Lyn O’Keefe pop up on the show, and showrunner Julie Plec revealed that she does have plans for Kai, played by Chris Wood, to return someday.

“I have big plans for [Kai's return] in my head,” she dished to TV Guide in a recent interview.

However, while she has the plans, don’t get your hopes up too high to see them happen.

She added, “Even if they never make it to the screen, I have massive plans.”

Still, we’d like to know what these plans entail.

Legacies will return in late January on The CW.

Nina Dobrev Teases Whether Elena Gilbert Would Pop Up on 'Legacies'

Nina Dobrev Teases Whether Elena Gilbert Would Pop Up on 'Legacies'

So far, we’ve had Zach Roerig, Steven R. McQueen and even Jodi Lyn O’Keefe pop up on Legacies from the OG Vampire Diaries series – but don’t get your hopes up for Elena.

Nina Dobrev weighed in on the possibility of returning to the role for the spinoff series, but it just doesn’t seem in the cards at the moment.

“I have a full time job here, so I don’t know that I can,” she told TV Guide. “But I’m excited and happy to see that the show is living on, and it’s a testament to the show itself that people love it so much and have a hunger for it and have an appetite that they need to satiate.”

Nina adds, “So spin-off after spin-off — that means it’s a good thing… Julie Plec is the new Shonda Rhimes; she has like 95,000 shows on the air. She’s a force.”

Legacies is back on January 24th on The CW.

Hope Kind Of Got A Message From Klaus From Beyond The Grave on 'Legacies' Last Night

Hope Kind Of Got A Message From Klaus From Beyond The Grave on 'Legacies' Last Night

Last night’s Legacies was amazing last night and if you’re not watching this show – why the heck not?

During the episode last night, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) was tasked with finding more about Malivore through the Necromancer, only to get a bit of information about where her father was in the afterlife.

While getting information about Malivore, the Necromancer sent her to Rousseau’s instead, giving her (and us) a false hope of seeing Klaus.

“You want to know how your dad is, or should I say where he is,” the Necromancer told her. “After all, he did die to save your life — a lovely gesture for such a mercurial man.”

After being temporarily ejected from his subconscious, she powered through, insisting that she had made peace with her father’s death. However, Hope revealed that she needed to know whether or not Klaus is spending eternity with someone.

“He watches over you every day,” the Necromancer told her. “He did die with love in his heart, and he doesn’t regret his choice. But he won’t find peace until you do. Good luck with that.”

Uh, the feels here!

Legacies will return on Thursday, January 24th.
