The British beauty turns her trying-to-be-popular-self into a rocker in the upcoming DCOM, Lemonade Mouth, out NEXT FRIDAY!
JJJ got a chance to chat with Naomi about her character which she shared, “She’s the bassist in the band and is actually classically trained on the double bass and violin. Her family is Indian, so her parents are quite strict — mostly her father, you’ll see. She’s really trying to find a balance between two cultures, finding her identity and who she is within them.”
“I think Mo’s story will definitely relate to a lot of kids worldwide. Especially their family is from another country and relocated to the States,” Naomi adds.
Naomi has this incredible scene in the movie that is one of JJJ‘s favorites! We can’t wait for everyone to see it!
The 14-year-old actor told JJJ about his drumming days: “Charlie is the drummer. He’s definitely laid-back, outgoing and sticks up for his friends when they’re in trouble. In the script, Charlie has been playing for years and I haven’t.”
“My dad was actually a drummer and he would teach me a few things here and there,” Blake admitted. “But I definitely wasn’t an advanced drummer at all. But with Lemonade Mouth, and the songs in it, a drum teacher actually came into teach me a lot of the stuff. It’s been cool.”
The 18-year-old actress stars as Olivia White in the film, the shy, lead singer of the band.
Bridgit tells JJJ about Olivia, “She’s, of course, the lead singer and she’s also the songwriter for the band. Olivia is kind of in her own world at times because she’s writing all these songs and poems. She’s got a great, vivid imagination but she’s also a klutz and doesn’t have a lot of friends at all. But the band is helping her on that front.”
“I have moments that I’m like Olivia with shyness,” Bridgit added, “There are definitely times that I want to go into my own space but in general I like people (laughs). I think it would be kind of weird if I didn’t like people, being an actor.”
Adam Hicks stars as Wendell ‘Wen’ Gifford in the upcoming Disney Channel original movie, Lemonade Mouth.
Wen, as described by Adam is, “He’s very musically inclined. He plays keyboard for the band and also raps. He’s a big motivator for the band. If any of the band members start to second guess themselves, he’s the one who brings everyone together.”
Adam, who also wrote three songs for the film, says that the music in the movie is “very edgy. It’s just all out rocking. It was incredible to write the rap lyrics for the three songs…just really fortunate.”
Check out his rap skills below and stay tuned to JJJ — we’ll be introducing you to the rest of Lemonade Mouth throughout the week plus a cast post!
“She’s new to the high school against her will. Stella becomes friends with these kids and decides that they should become a band, basically because her parent’s don’t give her that much attention,” Hayley, 19, shares with JJJ.
When we asked Hayley how she would feel if she really had to move across the country, she replied, “I would hate that. I’m such a people person and I would miss my friends sooo much. I sympathize with kids who actually do have to do that because of their parents’ jobs or whatever the circumstance may be. It must be so difficult.”
Previously announced as premiering at the end of March, Disney Channel’s newest DCOM, Lemonade Mouth, has been pushed back to April 15.
