Lincoln Lewis hangs next to a skateboard as he films the ABC pilot Westside on Tuesday afternoon (March 19) in Venice Beach, Calif.

The 25-year-old Australian actor plays Shealy Carver, a character who is upset that his brother jeopardized the family by spending six years in jail and is welcomed home with open arms.

“1st day shooting #WESTSIDE finished! Such an amazing team, every1 so incredibly passionate & enthusiastic! Im very lucky to be part of this,” Lincoln tweeted.

The show revolves around the haves and have-nots of Venice and focuses on two rival families in a twist on the classic Romeo and Juliet.

Mae Whitman has just joined The Perks of Being A Wallflower opposite Emma Watson and Logan Lerman, Variety) reports.

The 22-year-old actress will play the tattooed vegetarian first girlfriend of Charlie (Lerman) while Emma will take the role of Sam, an older friend that Charlie develops feelings for.

Aussie actor Lincoln Lewis is also in talks, according to a recent interview with the Courier Mail. He shared, “I had a really good call-back audition.”

Lincoln actually tested with casting agents for Perks earlier this month, just a day before he was due to leave, and scored a hastily organised call-back with [author] Stephen Chbosky only hours before boarding a flight home to Brisbane.

Production is set to start at the end of May in Pittsburgh.
