Vanessa Marano hops on the back of Sean Berdy‘s motorcycle in this new still from Switched at Birth.
In the upcoming episode “Persistence of Memory,” Bay (Marano) is haunted by an old photo of a pregnant Regina (Constance Marie) and asks Emmett (Berdy) to help her find her biological father. With Emmett’s assistance, the two manage to find his car in an abandoned junkyard, but just as Bay is about to give up, she notices a guitar pick that leads her one step closer to finding her father.
Meanwhile, Daphne (Katie Leclerc) enrolls in the advanced cooking class at Buckner Hall where she soon realizes their kitchen does not cater to deaf people. After feeling embarrassed by an accident while in class, Daphne almost gets hit by a car, causing her to think for the first time that a cochlear implant might be a good idea.
Toby (Lucas Grabeel) gets himself further into trouble when he conspires with Wilke (Austin Butler) to break into the school to steal a test.

In the upcoming episode “Dogs Playing Poker,” after being caught sneaking out to be with Ty (Blair Redford), the Kennishes force Bay (Vanessa Marano) to invite him over for dinner. Knowing this dinner is going to be an interrogation, Bay tries to prepare on all levels, but nothing can prepare her for the secret Ty reveals.
Meanwhile, Toby (Grabeel) recruits Daphne (Katie Leclerc) and Emmett (Sean Berdy) to help him win a game of poker, but unbeknownst to them, this is a high stakes game and Toby may be in some serious financial trouble. With pressure to help her new brother, Daphne becomes conflicted when her morals start to outweigh her loyalty.

In TONIGHT’s episode “American Gothic,” The Kennish and Vasquez families struggle to adjust to life together as Kathryn (Lea Thompson) and Regina (Constance Marie) differ over their parenting styles.
As the girls struggle to adjust to life together, Bay (Marano), begins seeing Ty (Blair Redford), a boy from Daphne’s old neighborhood, while Daphne (Katie Leclerc) goes on a date with Liam (Charles Michael Davis), totally unaware that he’s Bay’s ex-boyfriend.
While Bay may have met the one guy who can keep up with her rebellious ways, Daphne, unfortunately, realizes dating a hearing person may be more difficult than she had anticipated.

Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc, Lucas Grabeel, Sean Lane Berdy, Lea Thompson and Constance Marie all came to support Marlee Matlin, who was a special guest at the event.
Katie recently opened up to TVGuide about her new ABC Family series, “Sign language is the third most common language in the United States and most people wouldn’t realize that. Having a deaf character coming into your television and coming into your home every week can be a huge help in building bridges for both of those worlds.”

Lucas Grabeel stars as Toby Kennish in the upcoming ABC Family show, Switched at Birth.
When JustJaredJr.com caught up with the 26-year-old actor at the DVD launch of Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure earlier last month, we had to ask about the show and what he would really do if he found out that he was switched at birth?
“I don’t know,” Lucas shared. “That’s such a good question. I suppose I would want to meet my birth parents and family, but the situation and circumstances are always different. That would definitely be hard.”

Constance Marie and Lea Thompson sandwich in their on-screen daughters Vanessa Marano and Katie Leclerc in this first look at the new ABC Family series, Switched at Birth.
After Bay Kennish (Marano) discovers in her high school chemistry class that her blood type does not appear to match either of her parents’, her world is flipped upside down — she was switched at birth.
While Bay grew up in an idyllic neighborhood with her parents — John, a retired athlete, Kathryn (Thompson), a stay-at-home mom and brother Toby (Lucas Grabeel), Daphne Vasquez (Leclerc) — the Kennish’s biological daughter did not.
The family meets Regina Vasquez (Marie) and her daughter, Daphne. A single mom, Regina has worked hard to take care of Daphne, a member of her school’s basketball team, and a typical teenager in every way except that she is deaf. Daphne lives with her mother and grandmother, and attends her deaf and hard of hearing school with her best friend, Emmett (Sean Berdy).
Things come to a dramatic head when both families meet and struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls.

Lucas Grabeel goes big as he chats with a friend during lunch at Kings Road Cafe on Saturday afternoon (April 23) in Studio City, Calif.
The 25-year-old actor is currently working and filming new episodes for the new ABC Family show, Switched At Birth. Lucas will play Toby Kennish, older brother of Vanessa Marano and Katie Leclerc.
