This is How the 'Pretty Little Liars' Cast Found Out Who 'Ultimate A' Was

The stars of Pretty Little Liars all found out about who “Ultimate A” was in different ways.

Here’s how the girls found out, according to their new interview with Vulture:

Sasha Pieterse: “We all got little hints along the way. I think we all found out in our own ways. In the end, it was a huge shocker.”

Lucy Hale: “No one told me, and then I heard that an actor who never works on the show knew about it. Drew Van Acker knew about it! I’m like, ‘How did you know and I didn’t know?’”

Ashley Benson: “They were very tight-lipped about it, obviously, but I remember forcing it out of someone. We were on a late-night shoot and I was like, ‘Dude, you gotta f-cking tell me right now, because if you don’t tell me, I’m gonna go insane. Marlene [King]‘s not f-cking telling me, I wanna know.’ And then I got told and was like, ahhhhh! It was great…I was pissed that it wasn’t Hanna. [Winks.]

Troian Bellisario: “I was super nosy about it and I remember I cornered Marlene. I think Marlene might be slightly afraid of me. [Laughs.] Because it worked. I was like, ‘You’re gonna tell me, and you’re gonna tell me now.’ And it was a while ago. She was like, ‘Do you really wanna know?’ And I was like, ‘Yes, I really do.’”

Lucy Hale Thinks A 'Pretty Little Liars' Spinoff Should Be About This Character

Lucy Hale Thinks A 'Pretty Little Liars' Spinoff Should Be About This Character

We’ve talked about the idea of a Pretty Little Liars spinoff for a long time.

The show actually had one — Ravenswood, with Tyler Blackburn — but it sadly, only lasted one season.

Now that the possibility has come up again, Lucy Hale has an idea for it.

“Ali,” she shared about which of the Liars it should center around.

Lucy adds, “I love her character! I love all of you guys, I even love Aria, but I think you have so many places you could go because you [Sasha Pieterse] have such a messed up past.”

She continued, “You could just go back to being crazy Ali. I loved b*****, crazy Ali.”

Pretty Little Liars' Aria Will Be Pitted Against The Four Other Liars In New Episodes

Pretty Little Liars' Aria Will Be Pitted Against The Four Other Liars In New Episodes

We’ve talked a lot about the dark side of Aria Montgomery coming on Pretty Little Liars, and Lucy Hale is spilling just a little bit more about what we’ll see on the final episodes.

We know that all the liars are constantly playing with fire, however it looks like Aria will be going one step further.

“This was the first time in the course of the show that I went to [showrunner I. Marlene King] and I went to the writers and was like, ‘Please, can Aria just do something really cool and different for the last 10 episodes?’ And they gave me my way, and I was really surprised,” Lucy shared.

“Not only was it stuff I never got to do on the show, but I got to do things I’ve never done in acting, period.”

So what exactly is Aria doing?

“The board game plays a big part in the last nine episodes…and, Aria, it really pits her against the girls. For the first time it’s little Aria against the rest of them, so things get weird.”

Tune into Pretty Little Liars on Tuesdays on Freeform.

Lucy is also pictured running some errands in Los Angeles on Friday (April 28). She is wearing Vans shoes.

Lucy Hale Was Once Intimidated by Her 'Pretty Little Liars' Co-Stars

Lucy Hale Was Once Intimidated by Her 'Pretty Little Liars' Co-Stars

Lucy Hale isn’t letting anything hold her back anymore.

The Pretty Little Liars star opened up about some of her insecurities with Byrdie, and revealed that when she started the show almost eight years ago, she was definitely intimidated by all her taller co-stars.

“I tried to blend in so bad,” Lucy shares. “It was hard being on a show with a bunch of tall girls. I just always felt like the odd one out.”

Lucy learned to accept herself for who she is…”I think I only just figured out who I was a year ago,” she confessed.

So how did she do it? By chopping her hair!

“I know it seems silly because it’s just hair,” she says. “But at a point, I was like, ‘Why don’t I just own that I’m different?’ I guess cutting my hair off was like me finally saying, ‘I don’t give a f***.’”

Yes, Lucy!

The 'Pretty Little Liars' Cast Says This Character Changed The Most Over 7 Seasons

The 'Pretty Little Liars' Cast Says This Character Changed The Most Over 7 Seasons

The Pretty Little Liars cast only have eight more episodes to go until the series is over.

The cast — Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, and Sasha Pieterse — are opening up in an in-depth interview with Vulture about the show’s highs and lows, and when asked about just which character changed the most, all of them agree: it was Ali.

“Everyone has grown into their own, but Ali has had such a remarkable change,” Lucy shared.

Sasha, who played Ali on the series, agrees.

“They literally changed her personality,” she says. “I think her character broke down her own walls and realized how much she had put away and forgotten about and suppressed. Once she realized how terrible her family was, and why she was the way she was, she worked on that, and it helped having great friends that helped her through that.”

Sasha adds, “She really did change for the better.”

The One Lucy Hale Tattoo That You Forgot About Is From 'The Chronicles of Narnia'

The One Lucy Hale Tattoo That You Forgot About Is From 'The Chronicles of Narnia'

There are a ton of things we know about Lucy Hale.

She has two adorable dogs (Elvis and Jack), she can pull almost any hairstyle you give her, she NEEDs to get back into music asap (mostly because we miss the daylights out of her there), and she has a total of five tattoos.

There’s a bow on Lucy‘s neck, the “light” on her left ribcage, her “A” on her initial finger and “Catch the foxes for us” on her right ribcage.

However, we almost forgot about her C.S. Lewis inspired one that’s inscribed just below her breast, until we noticed it again in her amazing feature on Bustle.

The scripted ink reads “Courage, dear heart”, from “The Chronicles of Narnia’s Voyage of the Dawn Treader”.

Here’s the full quote from the book:

But no one except Lucy knew that as it circled the mast it had whispered to her, “Courage, dear heart,” and the voice, she felt sure, was Aslan’s, and with the voice a delicious smell breathed in her face

BRB, going to get a Narnian-inspired tattoo now.

Lucy Hale Was The Only Star Who Didn't Audition For 'Pretty Little Liars'

Lucy Hale Was The Only Star Who Didn't Audition For 'Pretty Little Liars'

Some actors don’t even have to audition for roles on television shows or even movies, and Lucy Hale is one of them.

The actress, who plays Aria Montgomery on Pretty Little Liars, didn’t actually have to audition at all.

“She was coming off of Privileged and everybody wanted to do a TV show with her,” showrunner I. Marlene King shared with Variety. “I grabbed a coffee with her … and she had read the script and she loved it, and she wanted to play Hanna and I didn’t think she was a Hanna; I thought she was an Aria.”

She adds, “I said, ‘Go home and read it again.’ She read it again and she chem[istry] read for both roles with a couple of guys, and once she started doing her scenes, she’s like, ‘You’re right. I’m Aria.’”

And that’s how we got our Aria.

You Don't Know the Real Lucy Hale

You Don't Know the Real Lucy Hale

There’s a big difference between the Lucy Hale you think you know, and the real one.

The 27-year-old actress recently talked about how she surrounds herself with good people who keep her grounded.

“I know that it’s not always gonna be on that level, and I’m fine with that,” Lucy told Bustle.com of her PLL success “I’ve seen it really mess with people when they’re in the spotlight and then they’re not necessarily in the spotlight, and they do something crazy to be in the spotlight again. So you have to have a life outside of it, and luckily, I have really great friends and family to keep me grounded, and I recognize what’s real and what’s not. I have a sense of who I am outside of my job and the Lucy Hale that people know.”
