Maddie Ziegler is taking the cover of Wonderland magazine‘s Spring 2021 issue!

The 18-year-old dancer and actress opened up about growing up in the spotlight, dancing and more.

On accepting imperfections through dancing for Sia: As soon as I started doing choreography for Sia videos, I learnt that my imperfections can be beautiful. I’ll always have Sia to thank for that. She taught me how to express my true self and not hide behind a cover of trying to be ‘too perfect’, as both a dancer and a human. We’ve become so close — she’s like family.

On finding acting through dance: I definitely found acting through dance. That was never my goal, I was just set on becoming a professional dancer.

On growing up on screen and in the spotlight: It’s super scary. I have literally gone through puberty on screen and I’m bound to make mistakes. I try to keep that in the back of my mind: ‘It’s OK if you slip up, Maddie, you’re only human’. It’s a learning process, and I just hope people can understand that.

The first teaser trailer for Jenna Ortega and Maddie Ziegler‘s upcoming movie The Fallout just premiered!

Secret Life of the American Teenager‘s Megan Park wrote and directed the film, which is actually her directorial debut.

The movie is a film about the unseen faces of a tragedy, those who can’t turn their pain into effecting positive change in the world because they are too afraid to leave their bedrooms. Three teenagers form a unique and dynamic bond as they navigate the never linear, often confusing journey to heal in a world that feels forever changed.

The Fallout was filmed last August and also stars Niles Fitch, Shailene Woodley, Will Ropp, Lumi Pollack, John Ortiz and Julie Bowen. The movie will make it’s debut at the 2021 SXSW Festival on March 17th.

The teaser also features the song “While You Sleep,” which was written and performed by Lennon & Maisy. Finneas is composing the score for the film.

Maddie Ziegler is standing up for her younger sister Kenzie and asking to put a stop the the hate.

The 18-year-old dancer and actress took to her Instagram story to ask fans to stop comparing her sister to her, and to stop sending hate towards Kenzie.

“My sister is my best friend in the whole word, this has really been on my mind recently,” she wrote. “Kenzie is the most pure hearted girl I know. She loves hard, she has the most infectious smile, and she makes you laugh harder than anyone.”

“It absolutely breaks my heart to see the hate she receives on a daily basis. Yes we all make mistakes but guys come on she’s a teenager!!! She’s a human being who’s gonna mess up and she continues to learn and grow,” Maddie continued.

“Also please stop with the comparing me and her comments. She’s her own person! And that’s not just recent, that’s been happening her entire life. She has her own identity, her own personality. She shouldn’t have have these ‘expectations’ to live up to. She’s perfect that way she is,” Maddie added. “It just needs to stop. I’m tired of seeing the hate. It pains me seeing the state it puts her in.”

Kenzie recently opened up about always being in her sister’s shadow or being compared to her while she competed on The Masked Dancer.

There has been a lot of controversy around the movie with the Autism community and more calling out the film for having a neurotypical actor (Ziegler) star as the title character, who is on the Autism spectrum.

In a recent interview promoting the film, Maddie opened up about the controversy and staying out of all the talk about it.

“I’ve actually stayed out of all of it just because, you know, I’m 18 years old and it’s a lot of pressure,” she told the Independent.

“I understand why people would want someone who’s actually on the spectrum with autism to play this character,” Maddie added. “But in terms of the dance sequences, I think that’s why Sia chose me to bring the dream world to life. It was all [made] with good intentions and with a good heart.”

“I felt so much responsibility,” she said about taking on the role. “But I felt I was capable. I knew going into this that people were going to love or hate it.”

Maddie added that she would watch videos online to help her with the role.

“I’d get in my head at times: ‘I’m going to try and replicate those mannerisms and those tics.’ But then I started watching each video and I realized every single person is so special in their own way. That’s how Sia and I came up with Music, her mannerisms, and her own thing going on,” she shared.

Sia has defended the decision to cast Maddie in the role several times, and even recently noted that she was listening to feedback and made changes. The movie is out now digitally.

The 18-year-old stars in the movie as the title character, alongside Kate Hudson and Leslie Odom Jr.

Here’s a synopsis: Zu (Hudson) is newly sober and finding her way in the world when she receives news that she is to become the sole guardian of her half-sister named Music (Ziegler), a young girl on the autism spectrum. The film explores two of Sia’s favorite themes — finding your voice and what it means to create family.

If you missed it, Sia recently dropped the new song “Hey Boy,” which is featured in the film and on the soundtrack. You can pre-order the Music soundtrack HERE!

Sia recently opened up about the concerns Maddie had taking on the role in the movie.

Music will be released in select IMAX theaters for one night only on February 10th, and will be available in the US digitally on February 12th.

The Masked Dancer premiered on Sunday night (December 27) and we got our first look at clues for some of the stars!

The first batch of masked dancers included Hammerhead, Tulip, Cricket, Disco Ball and Exotic Bird.

While Disco Ball was unmasked, many fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the other dancers, especially Tulip!

Some of the clues and hints for the Tulip were their heels clicking three times, hints to TikTok, a bus ticket that says AL to DC, a few number 11 clues, and that growing up, they were teased. You can see all the clues in the video below!

First guesses from judges included Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae, but fans of Maddie and Kenzie Ziegler pointed out on Twitter that it could very well be one of them, mostly Kenzie.

Fans uncovered that Kenzie played Dorothy in a Wizard of Oz winter-themed stage production, and the bus ticket for AL to DC actually stands for Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC), where she danced back in Pennsylvania while on Dance Moms.

Maddie Ziegler, Sabrina Carpenter, and Sofia Carson are among the stars who are looking so chic at the 2020 MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time, which are airing right now on Sunday night (December 6).

Instead of having a normal awards show this year, MTV decided to honor the biggest and best moments in film and TV from the 80s until now. The 90-minute special has live presenters, but nearly all of the winners so far are accepting via satellite.

Maddie, Sabrina, and Sofia are all presenting at the event and other presenters who were there included Peyton List and Cobra Kai stars Xolo Maridueña and Jacob Bertrand.
