Last night on Dancing with the Stars, we were all pretty taken aback when the show announced that Maksim Chmerkovskiy was taking the night off due to personal issues.
Now, People is reporting that it might have to do with some drama between him and his celeb partner, Vanessa Lachey.
“There’s a big chemistry issue,” a source told the glossy. “They both have big personalities and that’s not always the best recipe for a good partnership.”
They added, “They’ve been fighting a lot.”
After performing with Alan Bersten, Vanessa took to Instagram and wrote, “I can’t WAIT to get started tomorrow with @maksimc on week 4! We’re cookin up something special for you!”
Meanwhile, after the show, Maks was seen on brother Val‘s Instagram Stories having dinner with the family, including wife Peta Murgatroyd.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy won’t be seen on Dancing With the Stars tonight.
Host Tom Bergeron announced ahead of the night’s first performance that the pro dancer has taken the night off for a personal issue.
Alan Bersten, who was promoted to pro this season and was voted off last week with partner Debbie Gibson, will be stepping in for Maks with his partner, Vanessa Lachey.
Vanessa and Alan will be performing fourth, to a Jazz to “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper.
Fans of Dancing With the Stars have been waiting for the moment when Alan Bersten was announced as a pro for a long time — and they are seriously stoked.
But their excitement has nothing on brothers, and fellow pros, Val and Maks Chmerkovskiy.
“It’s been a longer journey [for him] than most of us who jumped from the troupe and onto the show so, I’m very proud of him,” Maks shared with ET after the pro announcement this week.
He adds, He’s done a phenomenal job last season standing in for me with Heather [Morris], and Heather was not an easy partner to just jump into and help out. This is a very well deserved job.”
“It feels amazing to finally get my shot,” Alan shared. “Last season I got to fill in with Heather for Maks, so it’s nice to have Maks by my side and help walk me through my first interview [as a pro].”

It’s been a question of ‘will he’ or ‘won’t he’ for Maksim Chmerkovskiy‘s return to Dancing With The Stars.
During season 23 and 24, everyone was surprised that not only did Maks return to the show, but wife Peta Murgatroyd did too following the birth of their son, Shai Alexander.
Now that season 25 is coming up shortly, we’re all waiting anxiously for the pro dancer announcement and to see if Maks‘ name is on the roster.
Speaking with IB Times, Maks shared, “Before this was always a million-dollar question, ‘Will Maks return?’ But now it’s not, it’s more of a domestic issue.”
He adds, “I figure things out on my behalf, and Peta has a team that she consults with, and so they figure out stuff as well. But we obviously prioritize Shai, and it’s important to both of us to make sure that our time with him is not is not being cut into. It’s one of my main things that I want to be around all the time, and I see all the things that happen.”

Val Chmerkovskiy gives a sweet kiss to girlfriend Jenna Johnson on the red carpet at the 2017 Industry Dance Awards held at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (August 16).
The two professional dancers were joined by his brother, Maksim, and sister-in-law, Peta Murgatroyd at the event.
Val and Maks were actually honored at the with the Innovator Award.
“It’s nice to say I did it, but it’s so much more fulfilling to say that ‘we did’,” Val wrote on Instagram afterwards.
“Thank you to the @industrydanceawards for having my brother and I, presenting us with this incredible award but mostly the honor of including us as part of the fight for this amazing cause.”

Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd won the 21st season of Dancing With The Stars and have remained really close since the day they took home the mirrored-ball trophy.
So, it’s really no wonder that the deaf advocate and model was at her wedding to Maksim Chmerkovskiy to support both of the pro dancers — and totally gushed all over the couple and event.
“Can we talk about how beautiful @PetaMurgatroyd looked last night!!!” Nyle wrote while sharing a gorgeous pic of Peta in her wedding gown. “CONGRATULATIONS, Peta and Maks!!”
He added more after that too, complete with a video of Maks and Peta sharing a sweet kiss and then of him with the bride!
“And then Peta’s husband Maks came along for kisses under the rainbow! A FAIRY TALE,” Nyle captioned.

It’s official – Maksim Chmerkovskiy & Peta Murgatroyd are married!
The Dancing with the Stars stars married in an intimate and lavish wedding at the castle in Taylor Swift‘s “Blank Space” music video on Saturday (July 8) in Long Island, New York.

Maks‘ younger brother Val Chmerkovskiy served as Best Man while DWTS stars Tony Dovolani and Sharna Burgess along with Rumer Willis were also a part of the wedding party.
Guests at the wedding included Jenna Johnson, Witney Carson, and Peta‘s former partner Nyle DiMarco – who has been sharing a glimpse inside the wedding on his Instagram story.
The couple’s six-month-old son Shai adorably served as “Prince of Honor” at the wedding.
