Christina Grimmie Foundation Launches New Player 2 Campaign (Exclusive)

The Christina Grimmie Foundation is launching an amazing new campaign, JJJ can exclusively announce.

Called the Player 2 campaign, which is a social media and mobile giving campaign created to support families impacted by the crisis of gun violence or breast cancer diagnosis.

The PLAYER 2 Campaign is seeking to rally 500,000 people to support its cause through social media and mobile giving encouraging donations as low as $2.

This will provide for the unique needs of these families after a crisis such as housing, medical expenses, transportation, burial expenses or utilities.

“The next generation is now taking the lead in the conversation about gun violence and seeking ways to get involved beyond the politics or debates. They want to help the victims and focus on the people who are affected most, the families left behind,” Marcus Grimmie shared about the campaign.

“Our primary goal is helping families impacted by these tragedies,” Christina‘s father Bud, added. “We know firsthand that when the headlines cease, the aftermath is a family left facing a new reality after suffering a loss.”

He continues, “This is the driving force behind our new PLAYER 2 campaign, which is inspired by Christina’s love for video games and the matching player 1/player2 tattoo she shares with her brother.”

Participants can join the campaign by visiting www.readyplayer2.org or texting PLAYER to 77977 on a mobile device.

Rachel Platten poses with Christina Grimmie‘s family just outside of The Humane Society of the United States’ To the Rescue Los Angeles Gala in Hollywood on Saturday (April 22).

The “Stand By You” singer performed a touching tribute to Christina inside the event, where her family — dad Bud, mom Tina and brother Marcus — accepted the Impact Award on her behalf.

The Impact Award was for Christina‘s devotion to protecting animals and many of her own fans were moved by her enormous heart and call for mercy toward animals who suffer.

Daniella Monet and Harley Quinn Smith also stepped out for the event, which broke the gala’s fundraising record, raising more than $1.4M for the organization’s Farm Animal Protection campaign.

FYI: Rachel is wearing Schutz shoes.

What Will Christina Grimmie's New Foundation Be For?

What Will Christina Grimmie's New Foundation Be For?

Christina Grimmie‘s family just released her new single, “Invisible” for fans this week and their plan is to set up a new foundation in her name from all the proceeds.

So, what will the foundation actually be for? Christina‘s brother Marcus, shared his thoughts about that in a new interview.

“As a lot of people know, she was super passionate about breast cancer awareness, animal safety, anti-bullying,” he remembers of his slain sister, who was murdered last year in Orlando. “There are so many things. So, we are just figuring out what’s the best way to allocate the funds.”

Marcus also shared that there are a ton of more songs that we can hope to hear from Christina.

“Since about 2015, she’s been just grinding it out, writing songs, and has about 50 to 60 songs that are finished vocally, and she’d just been putting in hard work,” he says. “It’s unbelievable. No one that I have ever met has worked as hard as she has, and that’s for sure. We’re very excited to be doing this the way she wanted it done.”
