Ashley Wagner, Gracie Gold, Madison Chock & Evan Bates Lead Team North America To Win First Ever Team Challenge Cup

Ashley Wagner looks likes she’s having major fun on the ice during her performance at the 2016 Team Challenge Cup held at Spokane Arena on Friday (April 22) and Saturday (April 23) in Spokane, Wash.

The 24-year-old World Silver Medalist skater joined Team North America for the first ever challenge, leading them to the first place spot over Team Asia and Team Europe.

Men’s skaters Jason Brown, Nam Nguyen, Adam Rippon, women’s Gracie Gold and Gabrielle Daleman, pairs Alexa Scimeca and Chris Knierim, and Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford; and ice dancers Madison Chock and Evan Bates, and Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje all performed in the challenge.

Team North America split the $210,000 prize.

Team USA Pairs Teams Alexa Scimeca & Chris Knierim, Tarah Kayne & Daniel O'Shea Shine During Short Program at Worlds 2016

Tarah Kayne whirls around in partner Daniel O’Shea‘s arms during the Pairs Short Program at the 2016 World Figure Skating Championships held at TD Garden on Friday (April 1) in Boston, Mass.

The team placed 14th after the event was done, behind teammates Alexa Scimeca and Chris Knierim, who secured the 7th spot.

China’s Wenjing Sui and Cong Han are in 1st, Canada’s Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford in 2nd, Russia’s Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Tranov in 3rd, Ksenia Stobova and Fedor Klimov in 5th, and Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov in 6th. Lubov Iliushechkina and Dylan Moscovitch of Canada placed in 8th while China’s Cheng Peng and Hao Zhang are in 12th.

The Pairs Free Program will be held Saturday, April 2nd @ 12:54PM ET/PT. Check your local listings for the channel.

Patrick Chan, Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir, & More: Canada's Sochi Olympics Figure Skating Team!

Patrick Chan is leading the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Canadian Figure Skating Team.

Determined over the weekend at the 2014 Canadian Tire National Figure Skating Championships held at Canadian Tire Centre over the weekend in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, he’ll be joined by Kevin Reynolds and Liam Firus on the Men’s team.

Representing the Ladie’s are Kaetlyn Osmond and Gabrielle Daleman.

“Very proud,” Kaetlyn shared after claiming her top spot on the podium. “It’s exactly what I wanted to do in this program. It’s the first time I did an actual clean (long) program in competition so I’m super excited. I’m still in shock.”

Pairs skaters headed to Sochi are Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, Kirsten Moore-Towers and Dylan Moscovitch, and Paige Lawrence and Rudi Swiegers.

Reigning Ice Dance Olympians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir will also rep Canada on the ice, along with Alexandra Paul and Mitch Islam, and Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje.

Ashley Wagner takes to the ice at the ISU Gala during day four of the 2013 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final held at Marine Messe Fukuoka on Sunday night (December 8) in Fukuoka, Japan.

The 22-year-old skater was joined by team mates Meryl Davis and Charlie White plus Team Canada’s Patrick Chan, ice dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir and pairs skaters Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford.

“Thank you so much Fukuoka for such a great event! My Japanese fans always put a smile on my face, see you all again at Worlds!” Ashley tweeted afterwards.

Eric Radford lifts Meagan Duhamel high above his head during the the 2013 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final held at Marine Messe Fukuoka on Saturday afternoon (December 7) in Fukuoka, Japan.

The Team Canada pairs skaters placed fifth after a two-day skate in the final event for the year.

“We needed to apply that same kind of feeling and attack we had in the short program yesterday (Friday),” Eric, 28, shared with press after the skate. “It’s never easy to start off the program with a major mistake.”

Team Canada’s Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford took second place with 190.89 after China’s Pang Qing and Tong Jian.

“We’re incredibly proud of ourselves to make the final with the pressure we put on ourselves,” Eric shared after their perforamnce.

Team USA’s Caydee Denney and John Coughlin weren’t far behind with 184.01.

Meagan Duhamel & Eric Radford: Bronze at Skate Canada 2013

Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford have picked up the bronze medal at the 2013 Skate Canada International held at Harbour Station on Saturday afternoon (October 26) in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

The Canadian pairs skaters, 27 and 28, performed their short program just the day before (October 25) to a piece Eric actually wrote.

Eric studied at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music and wrote “Tribute” a day after the teams coach, Paul Wirtz died of cancer in 2006.

“Last year we came to this event, skated a clean short, and got 64, so this shows everything that we’ve been working towards and improving,” Meagan shared. “We started with 64 last season and ended with a 73 at worlds, so this is exactly where we want to be. We want to hit those high 70s as we go into nationals and as we go into the Olympics. I think that it’s a good step.”
