“We’re new characters living in a world. It’s a new set of witches who’ve discovered they have powers. I think it’s maybe a misconception to say it’s a rip-off,” Madeleine shared with US Weekly in a new interview.
She adds that the positive remarks are what they all are paying attention to: “I saw somebody yesterday describe it as a tribute to [the original] and I thought that was quite nice.”
“Some of them [original stars] have been vocal about giving support,” Sarah adds. “Rose [McGowan] I know was [supportive]…She said, ‘Fly girls fly’ and that was so kind of her to say that. It was really nice.”
Madeleine continued that “everyone’s allowed their own opinion and I think it’s testament to how much fans really love and cherished Charmed for what it is.”
“There are lots of people who are really excited for it. So I’ve got my ears open to them and I’m hoping we can turn some people on to it as well because I do, I think it’s a really good show.”
Sarah Jeffery is joined by her co-stars from Charmed while attending their show’s panel at 2018 Comic-Con on Thursday (July 19) in San Diego, Calif.
The 22-year-old actress posed alongside Melonie Diaz and Madeleine Mantock. During the panel, they explained why they want fans of the original series to give the new show a chance.
“We come in peace. I think the original was so wonderful, and they were really trailblazers and we could not be here without them,” Madeleine said during the panel (via IndieWire).
“There are core similarities with the original show… I hope [fans] embrace it… We want to honor it properly while bringing a modern twist. Just — come with us, see if you like it,” Sarah added.

Sarah Jeffery looks lovely in a powder blue dress as she arrives for the 2018 CW Network Upfront held at The London Hotel on Thursday (May 17) in New York City..
The 22-year-old actress joined her on-screen Charmed sisters Melonie Diaz and Madeleine Mantock for the annual presentation and defended the show when asked about OG Charmed lovers who automatically don’t want to watch it.
“We understand that you loved the original, but give us a try. You may like it,” she shared while speaking to US Weekly.
Madeleine added, “There’s not too much focus on the original. Of course we respect it, and I’m confident that it will remain intact and can be still enjoyed by everybody who really cherishes it. They’re very different entities. We want to honor what the original Charmed had and did but we’ve very much got our own thing going on.”

Sarah Jeffery is celebrating her 22nd birthday today and instead of us getting her something, she gave us one of the best presents of all – the first pic of the new Charmed sisters!
The snap, featuring Sarah, Melonie Diaz and Madeleine Mantock, shows off the new sisters three for the reboot, which is planned for The CW.
Set in the present day, the new Charmed is described as “a fierce, funny, feminist reboot” and centered on “three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches.”
Sarah is starring as Madison, Melonie is Mel, and Madeline is Macy.
Melonie Diaz has landed a leading role in the upcoming Charmed reboot at The CW!
The 33-year-old actress, who is probably best known for her role in Fruitvale Station, will take on the role of Mel, the middle sister, THR reports.
Mel is described as a strong-willed feminist, who feels deeply and is a bit controlling. She is in her mid 20s, a lesbian, and the sister of Madison. In the wake of a tragic accident, the grieving Mel becomes angry, defiantly unkempt, even violent, pushing away those who might help her, including her girlfriend, Detective Soo Jin. Mel’s power is time-freezing.
