Michael Clifford Apologizes For Past Offensive Tweets

Michael Clifford is issuing an apology after past offensive tweets resurface.

Over the weekend, the 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist’s past was dug up online and he reacted to the tweets, which used sexist, anti-gay, and offensive language.

“hi. I am so f–king sorry for all the dumb sh– I did when I was younger. I am a different person now with a much better understanding of the world. some people have access to a digital megaphone a bit earlier than they should, unfortunately, I was one of them,” he wrote in his first tweet.

“I am so sorry for hurting anyone. it was never my intention. I was so naive and I am embarrassed and I am beyond sorry. I will continue to be better and I will continue to change. I never want to hurt anyone again,” Michael added.

Michael also addressed claims that he has sexually harrassed people in crowds at concerts.

“holy sh–. i am heartbroken to read these things that are being said – they are just BEYOND untrue. i was never allowed in the crowd i only ever watched at front of house – and i would’ve never EVER done that. i wouldf NEVER do anything like that. i’m so f–king upset,” he tweeted. “i really just dont know what i can even say. people are asking me to explain but how can i explain something that i was never involved with in the first place? i truly want to give you what you’re asking from me but what more can i say?”

“this is what life was like in 2013 – please understand it wouldve been logistically impossible for me to get through a crowd at a show i just played at! im not trying to be defensive i promise this is just so completely false,” he added, along with a link to a video of the band getting mobbed by fans.

5 Seconds of Summer Reveal How They Filmed 'Wildflower' Music Video In Quarantine

5 Seconds of Summer are revealing their secrets!

The guys – Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, Luke Hemmings and Ashton Irwin – appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden and dished how they made their “Wildflower” music video while in quarantine separately.

“Our creative director would take a green screen to a house, would disinfect it all, and then would put it at the front, and we would take it and put it up. If you’re with someone in the house, then they would film all the parts. He had a list of things to do, and then he would come back, disinfect the green screen and take it to the next band member’s house,” Luke shared.

Ashton also showed that he still has his “Late Late” tattoo that he got the last time the guys were on the show. The band also performed their song “Wildflower”, which you can see right here!

5 Seconds of Summer's 'CALM' Album is a Nod to Fans - Listen!

5 Seconds of Summer has released their new album CALM – to make sure you’re feeling the right vibes while social distancing.

The group – Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin – dropped their fourth studio album on Friday (March 27).

The 12-track project includes their previously released songs “Wildflower,” “Easier,” “Teeth,” “No Shame,” and “Old Me.”

“The album title came from the first letters of all of our names,” Luke told the New York Post. “And it’s also a nod to our fans that coined us that name in our early days. They’ve been using that acronym for a long time. It kind of just sums up [that] we’re a little bit older and a little bit wiser . . . But it was named before this went down, obviously.”

“We were gonna go all over the world, do all these kinds of things, and then we just couldn’t,” he added. “But honestly, we wanted the album out really badly. We were waiting a long time for it to come out.”

Luke has also called the album “a journey through a young man’s life, for better or for worse.” Calum adds, “These new songs feel like something we could keep playing for the next 10 years, or even beyond that. It feels like our first album—like we finally found what we’d been trying to achieve since the beginning of this band.”

5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford is spilling on his upcoming wedding!

The 24-year-old is getting ready to tie the knot with fiancee Crystal Leigh, after proposing to her last year.

While wedding planning is underway, Michael says they won’t walk down the aisle until next year.

“We’re going to do it early next year, probably in January,” Michael said on Nova 96.9 Fitzy & Wippa.

As for entertainment, the duo were thinking of some former tour mates!

“We did tour with The Chainsmokers so we were thinking of asking them to come and DJ, that would be sick – hopefully they don’t charge their usual fee cause that would quadruple the budget of the whole wedding!” Michael joked.
