The CW just released a brand new Vampire Diaries still – and a familiar face is back!
That’s right, Tyler (Michael Trevino) appears in front of who we think is Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
In case you forgot – SPOILER ALERT! – Tyler was killed by Damon earlier in the season.
In the episode, titled “Nostalgia’s a Bitch,” Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) enacts revenge on Damon by putting him in a catatonic state.
Caroline (Candice King) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) enter Damon’s mind and run into familiar faces from the past (AKA Tyler), only to discover Stefan (Paul Wesley) is the key to Damon’s fate.
It’s a race against time for the bell as both Sybil and her sister Seline (Kristen Gutoskie) jockey for its control.
Tune in to TVD this Friday, January 27 @ 8PM on The CW!
SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!
We’ve had a couple days to digest the latest episode of The Vampire Diaries – and we’re still reeling.
Is Tyler (Michael Trevino) really dead?! Did Damon (Ian Somerhalder) really just kill him in the middle of the road like that? After eight seasons?!
We can’t help but think there’s no way Tyler would go out like this, right? The episode ended fairly abruptly as Damon continued to suck the blood from his body.
So let’s talk – is Tyler Lockwood gone for good? Take our poll below and tell us what you think in the comments section!
Tyler is heading back to Mystic Falls!
The Vampire Diaries star Michael Trevino will officially be returning to the show this fall for the eighth and final season.
“First appearing in episode 3, Tyler will once again come face-to-face with Damon (Ian Somerhalder), except this time, Damon’s mental state is even worse as he continues to spiral out of control after his experience in the vault,” EW reports. “Tyler will attempt to talk some sense into Damon by reminding him what and who is important, but if history is any indication, Damon’s not always eager to listen to Tyler…”
The Vampire Diaries premieres on Friday, October 21 @ 8PM on The CW.
Michael Trevino hits the stage to talk to the crowd at Operation Smile‘s 2016 Until We Heal Conference at the International Student Leadership Conference on Friday (July 22) in San Diego, Calif.
The Vampire Diaries star was joined at the event by singer Chris Daughtry.

Fans of The Vampire Diaries got quite the surprise during last week’s episode when a familiar face popped up!
That’s right, Tyler (Michael Trevino) was seen in a flash forward scene three years from now when Stefan (Paul Wesley) calls him to warn Caroline (Candice King) about something.
From the looks of it, he’s working in New York City and quite successful. So what did this mean for that character?
“We wanted to remind the audience that Tyler’s still very much a part of [the show’s] universe,” executive producer Caroline Dries told TVLine.com. “When you’re fortunate enough to leave Mystic Falls — and not because you died — we try to exploit and embrace that. Tyler got away, so to speak, and just seeing a little glimpse of him in the show told the audience, ‘Look, three years from now, the guy’s still alive. So there’s some hope.’”
She added, “Tyler is one of the success stories of Mystic Falls. Him having been able to escape the supernatural politics of the town is what that [appearance] was all about. Also, him letting Stefan know that he’ll always be there as an extension of their group.”
The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays @ 8PM on The CW.
WHAT DO YOU THINK about Tyler popping up in a flash forward scene?

There’s no word on whether they are dating or not, but we do know they’ve been friends for several years.
In fact, Alexandra was part of a very popular on-screen couple on As the World Turns with Zach Roerig, one of Michael‘s co-stars and good friends!
Michael previously dated Glee‘s Jenna Ushkowitz for three years before splitting back in May 2014.
Nina Dobrev gets a little teary eyed in a cute new video with Michael Trevino after wrapping their last scene together on The Vampire Diaries.
“That’s a wrap on Elena and Tyler. We were just kids when we started the show, and we still are, 6 years later. #TVDFamily Love you Trevino…” the 26-year-old actress captioned with the video. Watch it below!
Just a few days earlier, Nina was feeling the end coming near: “Ok. Officially a mess. No hiding it anymore. Today has been a day filled with farewells.. I still have 2 more days of shooting before I wrap TVD. But it’s officially a wrap on Caroline&Elena&Bonnie. Finished filming with these two beautiful, funny, sweet, sassy, amazingly talented and lovely ladies…. @candiceaccola @katgrahampics .
