Monique will wrap up her tour at the beginning of August in New York, where she will then be hosting the International Year of Youth Culmination Celebration held at UN Headquarters. The day-long event will feature a press conference and series of events that will be heard around the world, commemorating the first International Year of Youth to occur in 25 years.
On August 11th, 192 female delegates, reflecting the number of members of the General Assembly, ages 11-24, will join together at UN Headquarters to participate in the Culmination Celebration. These delegates will be selected from various organizations that support girls and young women, among them a group Monique encountered during her tour.

It’s been a while since we caught up with Monique Coleman as she’s trekking across the globe as a part of her International Year of Youth Tour.
The UN Youth Champion and actress has been keeping us up to date via Twitter on what she’s been doing.
Check out pics of Monique planting “Monique’s Mukuyu tree” (also known as a Sycamore Fig) which will live on the UN Nature Trail in Nairobi, Kenya.
Momo sent JJJ a little note to let us know that she’s headed to Johannesburg, South Africa next. She’ll be discussing topics with high school, university students and youth groups in Gauteng province such as HIV/AIDS, violence against girls and women, rape, alcohol and drug abuse, the MDGs, teen pregnancy, and environmental awareness with the various groups of young people.
Monique Coleman poses with Drum Atweme in this new group shot during her worldwide tour as part of the International Year of Youth Tour.
The UN Ambassador stopped by a street soccer match near one of the aboriginal town camps as part of her world tour and discovered Drum Atweme, a drumming group made up of young people from town camps in Alice Springs, Australia.
This project enables young people to be part of a positive and publicly popular activity. This has strong benefits in enabling the young people to realize that they can achieve public recognition for their abilities and talents.
JJJ is happy to announce that not only will Monique be embarking on a tour to Australia, but she’ll also be setting foot in every continent (except Antarctica, of course)!
Monique shared in a statement, “The purpose of the tour is to see first-hand what youth all over the world are experiencing. Through social media and streaming technologies, I intend to connect youth who may have previously felt worlds apart.”

Monique Coleman dresses to the season as she speaks on stage just before lighting up the UNICEF Snowflake At Snow90210 in Beverly Hills on Thursday night (December 9).
The Gimme Mo’ host and founder wore a BCBG jacket and skirt, a festive gold Express top and completed her look with Christian Louboutin heels.
The UNICEF Snowflake illuminates Beverly Hills and serves as a beacon of hope, peace and compassion to the vulnerable children around the world. Designed by Ingo Maurer with Baccarat crystals, this beautiful ornament was dedicated to UNICEF in 2002 by the Stonbely Family Foundation.
The centerpiece of the celebration was horse drawn carriage rides in the midst of the falling snow from 40 snow machines on the 300 and 400 blocks of Rodeo Drive with complimentary rides for guests with receipt of purchases from participating stores.
Katharine McPhee also performed a few holiday songs including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Jingle Bells.”
