In the premiere episode of the new season, “Underneath it All Pt. 1″, the school year begins with Fiona (Annie Clark) retuning from rehab and trying to make a fresh start. When an exclusive party at her loft leads to a late-night senior prank, someone must take the blame.

After the marriage of their parents, Clare (Aislinn Paul) and Jake (Justin Kelly) are now forced to live together and their relationship is hotter than ever. Clare tests Jake to determine if they’re “emotionally ready” for sex.

Meanwhile, a new group of freshmen get their first taste of Degrassi drama as school president Katie’s (Chloe Rose) little sister, meets a cute boy on the first day of school.

The new episodes usher in four new characters: Maya (Olivia Scriven); Tori (Alex Steele); Tristan (Lyle O’Donohoe) and Zig (Ricardo Hoyos).

The cast will already be celebrating in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Minneapolis with screening events, and you get to choose the 5th city! Just log onto Facebook to cast your vote.

Annie Clark and Munro Chambers stick close together as they arrive at the 2011 Gemini Awards held at the CBC Building in Toronto on Wednesday night (September 7).

The Degrassi stars took home three Gemini Awards that night — Best Children’s/Youth Fiction Program/Series, Best Performance in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series (for Jordan Todosey) and Best Direction in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series (for Pat Williams).

Congrats to the cast and crew!

In other Degrassi news, Degrassi – Season 10, Part 2 is hitting DVD shelves in the US on September 20th and in Canada September 27th. Woohoo!

The pictures hint that good girl Clare (Paul) has a new love interest this season with childhood friend Jake Martin (Kelly) but old boyfriend Eli (Chambers) is not giving her up that easily!

The rest of the Degrassi cast are also in the promo pics– including Sav (Ray Ablack), Bianca (Alicia Josipovic), and seniors Holly J. (Charlotte Arnold), Chantay (Jajube Mandiela) and Anya (Samantha Munro) in graduation robes and more.

After the debut of the hour-long season premiere, in which Keke Palmer guest-starred, JJJ got to check out the fresh new opening credits and theme song for the show–and we love them!

The theme song is sung by Alexz Johnson.

“I really pulled from my own experiences as I sang it, and it’s like… ‘Screw it! You can do anything!’ I wanted people to feel that when they heard the vocal. I really wanted it to be strong and powerful,” the 24-year-old singer/actress said.
