“Nickelodeon is not moving forward with production on Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn and School of Rock,” the network shared in a statement to Deadline.
“We are extremely proud of each series, and thankful to the casts and crews for their work. The remaining episodes for both shows will continue to air on Nickelodeon through 2018.”
While NRDD is most likely not going to be picked up by any other network, Paramount Television will shop School of Rock around for another season pickup.
Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn‘s fourth season will premiere in 2018, while School of Rock has 12 remaining episodes to air, with an hourlong finale.
Speaking with IBT, Lizzy shared that Dicky will kind of be part of a student exchange program.
“[He'll be going] on a little trip” to Australia and “that’s pretty much it,” she revealed.
And in return, a new character from Australia will be joining the remaining quads.
“We had a new cast member come in towards the end of our fourth season and he’s really nice and made the whole experience even more fun because it’s always cool to have new people come in to work with,” she added.
Jonah Hwang will star as Britt for three episodes.
Deadline is reporting that one of the quads, Mace Coronel (Dicky), has left the show.
A Nickelodeon spokesperson says the network and Mace “mutually parted ways” during the summer, noting that “it was a mutual decision”, however, a season 5 of the show is not for sure.
It seems that there was some drama behind the scenes, with a “personality conflict among the young cast”, which caused the rift.
Mace left the show in August, and the last five episodes of season 4 will be without him.
The Wizard of Oz is such an iconic movie and if we asked you to name a setting or prop from it, we’d bet you’d name Dorothy’s ruby slippers immediately.
However, did you know that they weren’t originally red? It’s true — they were actually silver…at least in the book.
The color of the slippers changed to red to take full advantage of the Technicolor process — and this is a fact that Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn‘s Lizzy Greene just learned about.
“We have a little nod to the past where both Jade [Pettyjohn] and I are wearing the silver slippers for a little Easter Egg bit in the special,” Lizzy tells us.
She also dished about getting to play such an iconic role as Dorothy Gale.
“There were actually rumors long before we actually did it and I was really excited about that prospect,” she says of making a musical episode. “I was the one that was crossing all my fingers, hoping that it would actually happen for us.”
“Then, they told me I was going to be singing and playing Dorothy, and that was just like a pinch me moment because I’ve loved The Wizard of Oz for so long,” Lizzy adds.
We can imagine!
The “Wonderful Wizard of Quads” airs TONIGHT, Saturday, August 5th @ 8PM ET/PT on Nickelodeon.
We’re only hours away from the premiere of Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn‘s new special, “Wonderful Wizard of Quads”!
JJJ had the chance to talk with Lizzy Greene about the episode and she told us that fans will be begging for more musical episodes after this.
“I think that they’ll love it,” she says. “The storyline is definitely still Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, it’s just with the musical aspect.”
“It’s got the comedy and a little drama too because Dawn is getting a little more vulnerable when she has to decide between getting crowned as Dorothy or going to save her brothers in Oz.”
Lizzy adds that on top of music and comedy, the drama is definitely there and that Dawn will face a major decision.
“When they’re in Oz, they go to see the Wizard with Jade [Pettyjohn] and they both want to be Dorothy,” Lizzy says. “Dawn has this mentality of ‘there is a chance I could be Dorothy, but if I stay and wait, my brothers are going to be in a lot of trouble.’ It’s her getting her life dream or saving family.”
In this scene, Dawn actually goes into an amazing song.
Lizzy says, “That was one of my favorite scenes to film because it has so much meaning in it, and it brings it back to the family.”
As for future musical episodes — Lizzy is definitely in.
“I loved this episode so much because of all the singing and dancing, with incredible costumes,” she shares. “I was so excited because our show doesn’t do a ton of singing at all. We’re more on the comedy side.”
Lizzy adds, “I’m hoping that one day we can do another musical episode because this is my favorite of all time.”
Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn airs Saturday, August 5th @ 8PM ET/PT on Nickelodeon.
Star Lizzy Greene chatted with JJJ about the episode and revealed that she loved working with School of Rock’s Jade Pettyjohn.
“It was so fun with her. We gelled super fast,” Lizzy tells us exclusively. “We were playing games in and out during the takes.”
During one scene in particular though, Jade and Lizzy just couldn’t make it through because they were laughing so much!
“There was one specific take where we had to stare each other down and we probably did that scene about twenty times because we couldn’t stop laughing during it,” she says.
Lizzy adds to her story, “Our characters in the episode don’t like each other. Jade did an eye twitch and I had a lip quiver. We just couldn’t stop laughing throughout the takes.”
“The crew were like ‘Let’s just move on’, because we couldn’t get through it and we had to convince them that we could do it. They did let us do it again, but we still couldn’t do it. We were just laughing so hard.”
