Echosmith Were 'Speechless' When Jamie Left The Band

Echosmith Were 'Speechless' When Jamie Left The Band

Echosmith are opening up about older brother Jamie leaving their band in a new feature with Billboard mag.

The three musical siblings — Sydney, Noah and Graham Sierota — revealed that they were speechless after he left.

“I was speechless,” Sydney shared. “In a personal way, it’s heartbreaking. In a business way, it’s tough. Who is Echosmith without Jamie?”

Jamie leaving forced Sydney, Graham and Noah to look at their music and give it a new sound, which you can hear in their new single “Goodbye”.

“‘Cool Kids’ was one of the last songs we wrote for the first record,” Noah says. “We wanted to continue that [sound], but Jamie was a big piece of the equation.”

He adds, “I don’t mean this in a lame way, but ['Goodbye'] has a little bit of swag to it,” he says. “It’s like how Echosmith would interpret a Drake song.”

Echosmith‘s new album, Inside a Dream, is out next month.

Echosmith have triumphantly returned to bless our ears with brand new music!

The band — Sydney, Noah and Graham Sierota — are now a trio and the single called “Goodbye” is an ode of sorts, saying goodbye to their eldest brother, Jamie, who left the band to spend more time with his wife and son.

“At that point, we never had another musician on stage with us,” Sydney shares of the adjustment. “That literally forced us on a journey of having to discover this sound. We still had electric guitars, but they weren’t the center of the music anymore.”

If you missed it, Echosmith also announced their brand new album, Inside a Dream, plus a tour, too!

The group – Graham, Sydney, Noah, and Jamie Sierota – just announced that Jamie has decided to leave for good after welcoming a baby last year.

“IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: we love our brother Jamie and we support him fully in his decision to embrace his role as dad,” Echosmith captioned an Instagram photo of a more lengthy statement.

It reads, “After taking a lot of time to think about what is best for his family, he has decided that he’s not going to be in the band any longer. We know this was a very hard decision for him, and we are so supportive of his choice. We love him and will miss him so much!”

“We are still as passionate as ever to continue making music and sharing out new album with you soon,” the band added.
