Gina Rodriguez and Olivia Cooke are both in the running to land the female lead in the upcoming movie Star Wars: Episode VIII!
The ladies, along with Tatiana Maslany, are expected to chemistry-read with The Force Awakens actor John Boyega this month, according to TheWrap.
Tatiana (the Emmy nominated star of Orphan Black), Gina (the Golden Globe winning star of Jane the Virgin), and Olivia (the star of Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl) are not the only actresses who will be seen for the role though. Director Rian Johnson is still auditioning some more women!
Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released on May 26, 2017 and Benicio del Toro is rumored to play the villain in the film.

Speaking with Nylon, Thomas opened up about his role in the movie.
“It’s the best role that I’ve ever had the opportunity to play. I’ve read everything out there, every coming-of-age movie I’ve probably auditioned for,” he shared. “This one felt different, and then when Alfonso [Gomez-Rejon, director] got on board, I was like okay, this is going to be something special. I knew he wasn’t going to make a teen movie, that it was going to be something bigger than that.”
Me And Earl And The Dying Girl is out in theaters TODAY!
