The X Factor alum, who was the runner up on the UK reality show during season 6, just became the most successful solo act from the show — beating chart-topper Leona Lewis with FOUR number one albums!
This puts him in a tie with One Direction, who are easily the most successful group who was on the show.
Olly‘s first self-titled album is the only one that didn’t reach #1. It peaked at #2. However, In Case You Didn’t Know (2011), Right Place Right Time (2012), Never Been Better (2014) and his latest, 24 HRS, are all #1!
“It’s the most personal album I’ve ever made, and I’m really proud of it,” Olly shares about the record. “It’s an amazing achievement for me to have had four Number 1 Albums in a row so thanks to my fans for continuing to support me!”
Olly Murs sings it out while perfomring at Radio Hamburg on Friday (October 7) in Hamburg, Germany.
The 32-year-old musician just dropped his brand new single, “Grow Up” that day and is looking for it to chart higher than his previous single, “You Don’t Know Love”.
“For me, ‘You Don’t Know Love’ has been successful and I’m enjoying it and it’s gone well, but it’s still not where I want it to be,” Olly recently shared. “I want the song to be No.1. I think it’s hard now for any artist – especially UK artists – to get a No.1.”
He added, “Streaming is so popular, so if you are an in-demand act, obviously people want to listen to your music. I feel like the chart now, for breaking new artists, is harder, because the songs have to be incredible. I do think it’s the way forward, but for example, my song has been No.1 on the radio airplay chart for the last couple of weeks, and that’s amazing for me – it’s huge.”
Olly Murs just dropped his brand new single off of his upcoming album called “Grow Up”.
“It’s not as harsh as people might think,” the 32-year-old singer shared with BBC. “We started the session writing about a specific person but as the song developed, we all sat in the room and spoke about people we felt needed to grow up and people we didn’t like.”
Olly added, “Sometimes you fall out with your friends and sometimes you just grow apart. This song was an opportunity to say ‘Seriously, I’m not too proud to try and make friends with you again, but you need to just grow up’. But is it about my ex? That’s the thing. People will think that and I’m going to leave it open to people to decide.”

Olly Murs gives a thumbs up while leaving the BBC Radio Studios in London, England on Wednesday (September 7).
The 32-year-old “You Don’t Know Love” singer also stopped by the ITV studios the day after for a television appearance.
Olly recently spoke to press about the possibility of joining Strictly Come Dancing after performing during the 2016 launch event over the weekend.
“They were saying it’s my audition for Strictly. They were trying to get me to sign a contract for next year,” Olly joked. “With anything like that, you never say never, but my music career is my most important thing.”
