Louis Tomlinson Says the One Direction Guys Are Still His 'Best Mates'

Louis Tomlinson Says the One Direction Guys Are Still His 'Best Mates'

Former One Direction member Niall Horan spoke out recently about how the media tries to make the former band members out to be rivals, though they aren’t at all — and now Louis Tomlinson is reaffirming that statement.

“We were always five best mates on the road; it was real nice,” the 25-year-old “Back to You” singer said to Noisey in a new interview, “and as time went on, we all began to understand each other.”

He went on to say that though their are “often misconceptions,” the five (Louis, Niall, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, and Liam Payne) have managed to stay close.

“We’re all such good mates,” he continued, “If you look at the X Factor final, when I performed my song with Steve, all the boys came to support me, and I didn’t know until a couple of hours beforehand. It wasn’t one of those stupid f-king celebrity things where it’s like, ‘Let’s all get in a picture and put it on Instagram and show everyone that we’re best mates’ – we didn’t even put it online. There are always those little things that people don’t hear about.”

We’re so glad that they have all stayed close and continued to support one another, especially after so many years working together.

You Can't Make The One Direction Guys Rivals In Their Solo Careers, Niall Horan Says

Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne are all embarking on their solo music careers right now — but don’t expect them to say anything bad about the others.

The One Direction guys will always be supportive of each other, and you can’t create a rivalry between them.

“The media usually likes to create rivalry between us,” Niall shared in a new interview. “But it’s great that they can’t because we’re all releasing different types of music.”

He adds that all of them use each other as sounding boards for their new stuff, too.

“I’ve heard Liam’s new song and Louis’ stuff, and they’ve heard some of mine,” Niall says. “It’s good to have that because we will be honest with each other if we don’t like it, especially because we’ve done that for so many years.”

Liam Payne decided to kick off the week with a gratuitous selfie – and we’re not complaining here.

The 23-year-old “Strip That Down” singer stripped off his shirt to reveal his insanely ripped six-pack in a mirror pic.

He captioned it “#legday” even though we can’t even see his legs. All we see are his abs, his tattoos, and his underwear…

Anyway, in case you missed it, be sure to also check out Liam‘s recent solo debut performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon!

Remember When One Direction Appeared on 'iCarly'? - Watch It Now!

We’re taking you back to 2012 with this epic throwback of One Direction on Nickelodeon’s iCarly!

The guys – Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik (yes, before he left) – looked so young in the episode.

In case you don’t remember, Harry got sick when he accidentally drank from Carly’s (Miranda Cosgrove) water bottle.

The group performed their first hit single “What Makes You Beautiful.”

Executive producer Dan Schneider uploaded the video to YouTube.

Louis Tomlinson Told His Mom When He Lost His Virginity

Louis Tomlinson Told His Mom When He Lost His Virginity

Louis Tomlinson was really, really close to his late mother Johannah Deakin.

The 25-year-old former One Direction singer even talked to her about his love life.

“I remember the day I lost my virginity. I hadn’t even told any of my mates and I was, like: ‘Mum? I know this is really weird. But I’ve got to tell you…” Louis told The Observer. “I remember thinking this is a bizarre conversation to be having with your mother. But it’s testament to how comfortable she made me.”

Johannah sadly lost her battle with leukemia back in December at the young age of 42.

Louis attributes their bond to how close they were in age, telling the outlet that she even “had the password to my email.”
