Jordan Calloway's 'Painkiller' Backdoor Pilot Sets April Premiere Date

Jordan Calloway will be starring in the possible upcoming Painkiller spinoff series!

The Black Lightning actor will reprise his role as Khalil Payne/Painkiller for the potential show, and the backdoor pilot air date has been set for April 12th.

Here’s a synopsis: Khalil Payne is a young man ridden with the guilt of his troubled past from his former life in Freeland City, where, as a super-enhanced killing machine known as Painkiller, he was both a member of Tobias Whale’s gang and a weapon of Agent Odell and the shadowy ASA.

After attempting to bury the darker, devastatingly lethal Painkiller part of his persona, Khalil has distanced himself away from everyone he knows and loves in a new city, Akashic Valley, in order to find peace…but peace never comes easy for men with pasts like Khalil Payne and Painkiller.

As his violent, destructive history crashes his idyllic new beginning, Khalil is thrusted back into action with a new mission – bring justice where he once gave out punishment – but to do that, he will first have to deal with and harness his darker side, Painkiller.

The episode was written and directed by Black Lightning creator Salim Akil. The spinoff news was first revealed back in November.

Black Lightning is currently airing it’s fourth and final season, and the backdoor Painkiller pilot will air on Monday, April 12th at 9pm ET/PT on The CW.

'Black Lightning' Spinoff In The Works With This Character, To Get Backdoor Pilot

'Black Lightning' Spinoff In The Works With This Character, To Get Backdoor Pilot

Another DC Comics series could be coming to The CW!

It was just revealed that a Black Lightning spinoff is in the works called Painkiller, following Jordan Calloway‘s character Khalil/Painkiller, THR reports.

The possible series will get a backdoor pilot in the seventh episode of the upcoming fourth season of the original show.

In the episode, “Khalil is riddled with the guilt of his troubled past from his former life in Freeland City, where as super-enhanced killing machine Painkiller he was a member of Tobias Whale’s gang and a weapon of Agent Odell and the shadowy ASA. After attempting to bury Painkiller, Khalil moves to Akashic valley to find peace as his history clashes with a new beginning and he is forced back into action to bring justice.”

This would be the latest DC spinoff coming to the network, following the recent news that Supergirl is ending after it’s upcoming sixth season. There is still no word yet on the Arrow spinoff, Green Arrow and the Canaries.

Painkiller is also the second spinoff to air a backdoor pilot in the upcoming season. Nancy Drew will also air a backdoor pilot for the possible new spinoff Tom Swift.
