The stars of BBC’s upcoming Class get together with Doctor Who stars Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie at the EW Hosts An Evening With BBC America event during 2016 New York Comic Con on Thursday night (October 6) in New York City.
Class centers on four Coal Hill School students who have hidden secrets and desires. They are facing their own worst fears, navigating a life of friends, parents, school work, sorrow and possibly the end of existence.
Coal Hill School has been a part of the Doctor Who universe since the very beginning, but that has come at a price. All the time travelling over the years has caused the very walls of space and time to become thin. There’s something pressing in on the other side, something waiting for its chance to kill everyone and everything, to bring us all into Shadow.
Fady, Vivian, Sophie and Greg are also pictured at the Heroes After Dark on Wednesday night (October 5).
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Doctor Who family. It’s such an extraordinary British institution, I couldn’t be prouder to call the TARDIS my home!” Pearl shared in a statement.
She added about her Doctor, “Peter Capaldi is such a brilliant actor, and his Doctor is such a wacky and wonderful character, I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for him and Bill throughout time and space. Reading the script at the audition I thought Bill was wicked. Fantastically written, cool, strong, sharp, a little bit vulnerable with a bit of geekiness thrown in I can’t wait to bring her to life, and to see how she develops through the series.”
The English actress will star alongside Peter Capaldi in the new season of the hit BBC series, replacing Jenna Coleman‘s Clara.
BBC introduced Pearl on social media this morning (April 23), writing, “‘You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.’ #DoctorWho #NewCompanion,” before the big reveal.
