We’ve only known about Pentatonix‘s surprise new mashup for a few days, and we all knew that we were going to be blown away by the debut – but it turned out even better than that!

The group – Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee – performed the new arrangement last night on PBS’s A Capitol Fourth event and it was so amazing!

The group mashed “Stay” and “The Middle” together, and slowed it down in a way that made us feel all the things.

Pentatonix's Scott Hoying Teases New Mashup The Group Will Premiere This Week!

There’s not one mashup of Pentatonix‘s that we don’t like and their next one sounds like it’s going to be the best ever!

Scott Hoying spoke to PopSugar recently and teased that the group, who will be performing at PBS’s A Capitol Fourth event, will debut a brand new mashup for the occasion.

“We try to take the most special parts of both songs, and then combine them,” he shared about how the group picks out the mashup songs.

Pentatonix will debut a mashup of “Stay” with “The Middle” for the program, which airs tomorrow night, July 4th.

“With this, we already had an arrangement of ‘Stay’ by itself, but we added ‘The Middle’ just because they are similar songs in how they’re produced,” he adds. “I think that mashups are always just a little more engaging than just a song by itself, because there are more melodies and more to enjoy.”

We can’t wait to hear it!

Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado & More Celebrate 7 Years of Pentatonix

Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado & More Celebrate 7 Years of Pentatonix

Can you believe that it’s been seven years of Pentatonix? Neither can Pentatonix!

The group – which originally consisted of Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola and Avi Kaplan – made their debut on NBC’s The Sing Off and ultimately won the show.

After that, well, you know what happened after that – they turned into an award-winning musical group that brought a capella back into the game.

Avi eventually left the group in 2017, and Matt Sallee was welcomed earlier this year.

“thank you all if you’ve been around for 7 years, 7 months, or 7 days. you’ve helped make our dreams come true every step of the way,” Kirstin wrote on Twitter, commemorating the day.

Matt added, “Soooo honored to become a member of this group that shaped a big part of my life throughout the past 7 years! Thank you for welcoming me in with wide open arms and making a high school/Acappella/choir kids dreams come true.”
