Oh no! Peta Murgatroyd is injured and needs surgery and won’t be competing on DWTS after all.
The 29-year-old dancer was originally paired with Andy Grammer, but she had an incident with her foot where she stepped down and knew something was not right.
“I wanted to check it out properly and make sure I was good to go for the season,” Peta told People. “I Got my MRI results back and it was a really bad diagnosis. It showed I had 4 torn ligaments and a floating piece of bone at the back of my ankle. My doctor said I needed surgery and I knew I needed to put my health first if I want to keep dancing on the show into my 30s.”
“It was devastating news for me,” adding that the injury will sideline her “for six to eight weeks.” She will need to have surgery.
“It was awful telling Andy. He had specifically asked to be partnered with me and I felt like I was letting him down,” Peta added. “But he understood and has been a great guy about it. I’m so in love with the show and I’m a very competitive person. It’s really sad. It’s super frustrating but I’m going to fine and I’m going to be back in week eight or nine of the show.”
“What a beautiful morning at the #DisneyLegends #D23Expo” Peta, 29, shared on Instagram afterwards.
She added, “Thank you for the dance @iamvalc ???? I am honored to have been apart of such a historical event and I’m uber proud to say I work for a company that continues to inspire the next generations through magical brilliance ???? @Disney #OnceUponADream @dancingabc.”
The 35 and 29-year-old pro dancers were seen walking hand in hand while spending some time together before the next stop on the Dancing With The Stars Live tour, which Peta is touring the country with.
“Just some of my personal views on life and business. Nothing more, nothing less!” Maks wrote on Instagram with a link to his new CNBS special. “I believe in @dancewithmeusa and its core people. I believe in succeeding beyond expectations and without limits. I believe in overcoming political, physical, language or any other barriers you might encounter. I believe in a worry-free life of abundance and moral integrity. But, most of all, I believe in me! You call it ‘self-centered’, I call it ‘leading by example’….Bottom line: Get your ass moving…literally!”
The 28-year-old pro dancer, who is currently on the Dancing With The Stars Live tour, injured her ankle this past week and has to sit out the next three shows.
“Richmond…I am so very sorry that I couldn’t complete tonight’s show. I rolled my ankle in my dance with Artem and I could hardly recover. He carried me off stage like such a gentleman, I love you Artem! I will be fine ???? with positive thoughts and my amazing family here, I’ll be back tomorrow night XO,” Peta shared on Twitter on Thursday (June 25).
Peta added later on after getting her injury diagnosed, “I’m so disappointed that I’m missing shows and missing out on meeting my fans! I will recover quickly though and I can’t wait to get back to it in Vegas :)”
Featuring fellow all-stars Melissa Rycroft, Witney Carson, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Artem Chigvintsev, Keo Motsepe, and Emma Slater, the troupe gave the audience a peek into their 40-city tour across America, which stars June 13 in Atlantic City, N.J.
“I’m looking forward to dusting off my dance shoes and heading out on the road on tour with Dancing with the Stars. My children Ava and Beckett and my husband, Tye, will be traveling with me in what can only be described as the greatest road trip across America, dancing from city to city and reconnecting with the fans that make Dancing with the Stars so special,” Melissa shared in a statement.
