The new Disney Channel series makes its’ TV debut on April 7th, but you can catch the episode right now online (watch it inside our cut)!
Actress Peyton Elizabeth Lee, who plays the title character, spoke to JJJ about Andi and how she relates to her.
“I think Andi is like every other kid. The most important things in her life are friends, family and figuring out her place in the world,” she shared.
“Andi experiences so many different things, and they’re the same things all kids go through.”
Peyton added, “I remember when we were filming, there were a lot of times that I could totally relate to the story in my own life, or I had a friend who had gone through the same situation. That’s what makes it so real and authentic. It’s honest. It’s what a kid’s life is really like.”
“I wanted to create something that both kids and their parents could enjoy together as a family,” creator Terri Minsky, who also created Lizzie McGuire, shared of the new show.

The series, starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee as the title character, centers on Andi, a girl whose life goes from routine to roller coaster overnight.
In the serialized story, Andi is contemplative and artistic and sheltered by overprotective parents. But on the eve of her 13th birthday, Andi’s free-spirited older sister Bex returns home with a revelation that changes everything and sends Andi on an uncharted course of self-discovery.
At least she’s in good company; her best friends, Cyrus and Buffy, are also figuring out their places in the world. Along the way, Andi learns that sometimes the unexpected is what makes life great.
