We were so looking forward to seeing more about Lucas and Zay’s friendship on Girl Meets World!

The stars who portrayed the two characters — Peyton Meyer and Amir Mitchell-Townes — have both released statements on the shocking cancellation of the Disney series.

“I will forever carry with me love and gratitude to each and every member of the GMW family, and especially Michael Jacobs who taught me so much,” Peyton shared on his Instagram account.

JJJ reached out to Amir to see what he had to say about the news.

“GMW has been an extraordinary experience that made such a positive impact on my life,” he told us. “We created a family and nothing can break that! It’s sad to see the show end but so blessed to know what we left the world!”

In heartbreaking news, Girl Meets World has officially been cancelled.

The Disney Channel has decided not to renew it for a fourth season, and the upcoming third season will serve as the series finale.

“It is with incredible pride in our work and complete sadness that things end, that I report to this wonderful audience that our show is over,” the show’s writers tweeted. “I just officially got the call, and would like to thank this audience for its incredible love and loyalty. Please watch our January episodes. We leave you with three incredible souvenirs of a show we couldn’t be more proud of. As I look back I can tell you with absolute certainty – We gave you our best.

The show’s stars – Rowan Blanchard, Sabrina Carpenter, Peyton Meyer, August Maturo, and more – had been rallying fans in recent weeks to help save the show.

The 17-year-old Girl Meets World star was joined by Olivia Holt, August Maturo, and Forever in Your Mind.

Later on, Yara was seen at the 2016 BBC America BAFTA Los Angeles TV Tea Party held at The London Hotel on Saturday (September 17) in West Hollywood, Calif.

There she joined Isabelle Fuhrman, Holly Taylor, Jillian Rose Reed, Zelda Williams, and Kerris Dorsey for the party. Later on, Holly was seen at the Vanity Fair and FX Annual Primetime Emmy Nominations Party at Craft Restaurant.

Peyton Meyer, Miles Brown and Marcus Scribner are also pictured below at the Pilot Pen & GBK Pre-Emmy Luxury Lounge.

Jade Pettyjohn and Ricardo Hurtado hit up the Say NO Bullying Festival at Griffith Park on Saturday afternoon (August 13) in Los Angeles.

The two School of Rock stars were joined by cast mates Breanna Yde and Aidan Miner, plus Thundermans‘ Kira Kosarin and Addison Riecke, plus Bella and the Bulldogs‘ Haley Tju, Rio Mangini and Lilimar.

Also at the event were Peyton Meyer, Paris Berelc, Ronni Hawk, Trinitee Stokes, Benjamin Royer, Matthew Royer, Sloane Siegel, Ashley Boettcher, Nikki Hahn, Lucas Adams, and Isaak Presley.

The 17-year-old Girl Meets World actor was mobbed by young female fans looking to take a picture with him at the event, where he joined Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, Lilimar, Trinitee Stokes, Cole Sand and Gabe Eggerling.

The event, which debuted the new limited edition collection that gives back to U.S. classrooms in need, hosted kids from the Boys & Girls Club for the fun event celebrating individuality and giving back to the community.

Yoobi is based on a bright yet simple idea: for every Yoobi item purchased, a Yoobi school supply item will be donated to a classroom in need, right here in the U.S. Yoobi believes that students all across the country should have access to the necessary tools to learn and be successful.

Rowan Blanchard takes a fun spin on fashion at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards held at The Forum on Sunday (July 31) in Inglewood, Calif.

The 14-year-old Girl Meets World actress and activist wore a denim coat over her Miu Miu dress for the annual show, where she joined co-stars Peyton Meyer, August Maturo and Corey Fogelmanis. Best Friends Whenever star Landry Bender and Mackenzie Ziegler also walked the carpet.
