Ginny Gets Treated Like An Outsider By The Team on Tonight's 'Pitch'

Ginny (Kylie Bunbury) stops to meet with fans in this still from tonight’s all new Pitch.

In “The Interim”, Ginny attempts to fit in with the team, in spite of a sexist comment Al (Dan Lauria) made about her years ago resurfacing.

Meanwhile, Mike (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) comes to terms with the mortality of his career and the end of his marriage, and Blip (Mo McRae) deals with fallout from Evelyn (Meagan Holder) defending him to the media.

Pitch airs TONIGHT, Thursday, September 28th @ 9PM ET/PT on Fox.

Kylie Bunbury's New Show 'Pitch' Premieres Tonight! Watch a Sneak Peek Now!

Kylie Bunbury's New Show 'Pitch' Premieres Tonight! Watch a Sneak Peek Now!

Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury) has all eyes on her during a press conference in this still from the premiere episode of Pitch.

The new Fox series centers on Ginny, a beautiful, tough and gifted athlete, who is vaulted into instant fame when she’s called up by the San Diego Padres to make her Major League debut. Like any rookie, Ginny must prove herself to her teammates. Foremost among them is Mike Lawson (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), the team’s ruggedly handsome star catcher. There’s instant chemistry between them, although neither dares admit it. After all, Mike is captain of the team and a few of his players don’t even want Ginny on the field.

Guiding her is her agent/confidante Amelia Slater (Ali Larter), who saw Ginny’s star potential early on and left her previous job as a Hollywood publicist to concentrate on the young phenom. Although groomed for this moment by her demanding father, Bill Baker (Michael Beach), the end of Ginny’s improbable journey is the beginning of an almost impossible one: representing her gender as she embarks on a successful baseball career under the glare of the white-hot media spotlight.

It’s a goal hard enough for anyone to achieve except this player is also a woman, who happens to be the most important historical figure in sports since Jackie Robinson. This season, Ginny Baker will be the other woman trying to break into one of the oldest, most exclusive men’s clubs in the country.

Pitch premieres TONIGHT, Thursday, September 22nd @ @9PM ET/PT on Fox.

Kylie Bunbury Talks 'Pitch': 'I Feel I Have A Responsibility To Inspire Anyone Who Has a Dream'

Kylie Bunbury Talks 'Pitch': 'I Feel I Have A Responsibility To Inspire Anyone Who Has a Dream'

We’re just a few weeks out from watching Kylie Bunbury become the first female ball player in Fox’s Pitch.

“I’m just trying to be a ball player…the best ball player I can be,” the 27-year-old actress shared in a recent interview. “I’m trying not to focus on the spectacle of being the first woman in baseball.”

She continued, “There are a lot of parallels going on now. I do feel I have a responsibility to empower women and to inspire them. And not just women anyone who has a dream. To tell them: You don’t need to forego your dreams. You can achieve them and be any size, shape, color gender, creed, whatever it is, you can do it.”

Kylie added later about her pitch speed, “I’m probably around 55 mph. I’m not as fast as Ginny, by any means, but I’m pretty proud of the 55.” She works with Gregg Olson, who actually works with the Padres.

This weekend, Pitch and the Los Angeles Dodgers will host moms, dads and daughters alike at “Take Your Daughter to a Game” day at Dodger Stadium. Starting at 11AM, fans can enter the PITCH Zone Experience (located behind the Left Field Pavilion), a batting cage where they can step up to the plate and test their skills.
